I installed a SYE a few months ago in my 06 lj and now the rear transfer case output seal is leaking. While removing the seal i noticied the output shaft has about 1/4 in of play front to back is this normal?

Mine has no front to back play at all. Once I tightened the yoke nut it took all the play out. Check that yours haven’t loosened off.
I have the yoke and nut off right now because I am changing the seal maybe when i tighten the nut it will remove some play. Forgot to add no vibes or unusual noises.
Ah yes there is definitely back and forth play before tightening the yoke. The instructions for my kit even mention that.
