Finally got around to dropping the transmission to replace noisy pilot and throw out bearings. Bought the Luk kit and national T/O based on info I’ve read here, thanks. I broke a bolt in one of the ears holding mount plate to transmission. I drilled in hopes of relieving pressure, heated, lightly tapped, used and broke an extractor, and only got another 1/8 of a turn on it. I’m assuming it’s galled. I’ve been hitting it with Kroil and home brew acetone/tranny fluid mix. Also using propane torch to heat as I was afraid to heat cast too much… I have no experience heating it and don’t know if that’s a possibility? Anyways just looking to see if there’s something I’m overlooking or any other suggestions on how to get this damn thing out. Also reading it seems normal for this NV3550 to have some end shaft play but I can’t find a definitive answer. Does this seem excessive? Appreciate your time.
