The wheel wells in most full size trucks are spaced so that a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood will fit flat on the floor. The tub rails on the TJ (and therefore the width of the hard top) are much wider than that. With careful measurements you might find that it can fit forward or behind the wheel wells but I doubt it. It can be done for sure, just probably not flat on the floor.
I hauled my CJ7 hardtop in my Dodge Ram. Had to turn the hardtop sideways and let the part that attaches to the windshield hang over the side of the bed some.

I’m not sure of your situation, but could you keep it on the TJ to transport it where it needs to go? Or drive with a soft top and remove the soft top at the destination if you’re picking up a hard top.
Yeah just turn it sideways, works great. I put the windshield side of the top on the passenger side of the bed, then ran a strap down the driver side of the bed around the inside of the top just to keep it from tipping if that makes sense.
