I have a 97 TJ 5 speed, 2.5 L with a crankshaft sensor that is round with a 4 pin/conductor connector. All replacements i've seen are flat 3 conductor connector. Any help would be appreciated.

Take a look at the selection for the 1995 Wrangler with the 2.5 as a lot of YJ parts made it into the later TJ's.

Are you sure you didn't unplug an O2 sensor? Every crank shaft position sensor I've ever touched or seen has 3 pins, not 4.

The grey/white wires behind the finger also suggest an 02 sensor

Glad you figured out your problem but for future reference, I will share what I have learned...

My 1997 4.0 is a hodgepodge of 1995 sensors and 1997 sensors with no rhyme or reason other than they were burning through old stock at the beginning of the 1997 model year.

Because of this I have learned that when it comes to electronics on my Jeep it is best to bring the old one with me to the parts shop.
