Hi All. Just bought my first Jeep Wrangler. A 2001 Sport according to the sticker on the side of the vehicle, but when I compare the VIN to the service manual I downloaded from this forum I got a confusing piece of data. Not a huge issue but a curious one...

The VIN is 1J4FA4....according to the manual that last 4 denotes the model: 1=Sport, 2=SE, 4= Sahara. The Vin would indicate a Sahara, but the graphics on the Jeep show "Sport".

Any ideas or comments?

There isn't much different to the Sahara's except for painted fender flares and a Dana 44 rear option. Other than that, nothing special really.

Did you check the VIN on your TJ in multiple locations just to make sure it isn't different?

Well, the dashboard plate and the door jam sticker agree. Not aware of another place to look. Like you said there isn't any real difference I guess, just curious as to why the discrepancy. Thanks for the reply.
