What did you do to your TJ today?

Cleaned up the battery connections and put a new battery in the custom battery enclosure Blaine made.

And tidied up the wiring a bit while I wait on switches and relays.

Looks good! I have a weird kink about good wiring lol

Thanks man, messy wiring hurts me inside too lol. Blaine’s helper did an amazing job in the engine bay and even labeled each plug. He was almost finished with the interior when Ricky said he’d take care of the rest.

Here is a photo of the custom cluster Ricky had made by the 12Voltguy. He did a really good job imo.

My tired post failed to properly share how Blaine tied in the battery enclosure. You can tell he put a lot of effort into it after needing to find a battery location since there wasn’t a spot for it in the engine bay.

On the return journey home now 😕.
Really wanted to go up to the high country but the weather said noooo.. (heavy rain and high wind)
So made a detour to this place instead.

Installed bed rug and bed mat.

Gonna wait till summer temps arrive before I put some sound deadening material and the Velcro under it. Give it a chance to “take shape” as well.

Codfish

I used bed rug on mine with sound deadening aswell… made a huge difference to the comfort level.

Moving this to the correct thread...

Cleaned up the unused cluster harness some after tapping into constant power to run a switch to a relay. It ultimately fires back into the harness for interior lights since that function doesn’t work off the MFS with the custom cluster with Autometer gauges.

I picked up a 250A alternator yesterday and figured I’d toss it in. The paperwork shows it made 183A at 750 rpm during bench testing.

The shock hoops moved inward a bit after I removed the support brace. I was prepared to put the TJ's winch on it, but thankfully the pry bar got it back into place.

I connected a 12v ignition wire and found a spot for the pig tail and alternator’s module using some finger gymnastics and a bent scribe.

Cleaned up the wire routing and zip ties on the support bar while I was there.

This is the Spal coolant temp sensor (for their brushless fan) that’s usually hidden behind the shock reservoir and intake tube. The band clamps that came with it need to be changed at some point.

The 1/0 ground wire from the alternator is now tied into the engine, body, and 1/0 battery wiring that Blaine previously installed. I replaced the aged idler and tensioner pulleys and cleaned all the 12v & ground lugs in the engine bay.

The charging voltage is now 14.8v instead of 15.2v–15.5v.

It's fun seeing some of the little things add up.

Left the Ferry at 6.30pm and finally made it home at 3 am today…battled very strong wind and rain… and very thick fog dropping my speed down to about 10 mph… It was not a pleasant trip home. ( not the best Summer this year so a lot of the camping days we had planned for the trip had to be cancelled 🙁)
On the plus side my TJ ran like the well oiled machine that she is. I think we ended up covering about 2600 miles in two weeks.
Time now to wash all of the kamikaze bugs off the front and give her a well-deserved bath.
