What gears and cold air intake?

I have the rubber plug I guess it’s the Dana 35
Check your rear axle now to determine if you have the Dana 35 which in stock form is not up to 35's, or the optional Dana 44 which is up to running that big of a tire.

Basically the perfectly oval shaped Dana 35's differential cover has a rubber plug in the lube fill hole while the stronger Dana 44 with a more angular shaped cover has a threaded bolt in its fill hole.

Look like I have the 35

That your Rubicon came with 4.10 gears makes it easier to accept that combination. When I went to 33's maybe 20 years ago I stupidly ignored all the advice to go with 4.56 and regeared to 4.10 instead. Within a day I was kicking myself for the poor decision and not having gone with the advice of more experienced Jeepers to regear to 4.56. To this day I regret that decision and always do my best to help others not make the same mistake.

Well I am one of the ones who listened to your advice; going with 4.56 gears with 33" tires and a 5 speed gear box on my 2004 TJ. I am very happy with the difference from the stock 3.73 gears. Thank you.

You want to beef that Dana 35 up if you are heading toward 35s
I am good with these 33s for awhile, I just hate being knocked back to 45mph on a tiny Texas hill, Need to be able to atleast hold 65 mph. That 3.07 on my cover doesn't mean factory 3.07 gears does it? I noticed both covers had that. I figured they were 3.73

That definitely means it has 3.07’s when it left the factory. Replace them with 4.88’s and it’ll take a shovel to get the smile off your face😎

3.07 that seems ridiculous, did Jeep put this one out for a soccer mom or what?

One of the 4x4 shops here asked if it had 3.73 gears from the factory, if so it was going to be an easy swap. Something about having to change something else internally if not. Could push the price up to $2000. Depending on what it came from the factory with determines the case size or ring gears or something like that

resource thread?

that's borderline outrageous

Where are you getting lower than 1700 in SoCal? I’m close to LB and a shop in riverside I thought looked pretty great quoted me 1900.

I paid less than $1200 OTD for 5.13 Revolutions from Robert of Rwk Haus Supply. Text (or call?) him at (714) 875-2414. He works out of Yorba Linda.

Is this 5 speed specific? My 05 came with 4.10 when i bought it, 33’s and 6 speed. I am fine, but could be better. If building to 35’s would you go 4.88 or higher #? Dana 35 so will put a S35. I don’t have any real world between 6 speed and 5 in a TJ.
