What is this throttle cable?

Of course my check engine light came on after my oil change and when I was inspecting under the hood some I noticed the pictured cable (throttle cable? Don't know if that is what it's called or not)is not connected to the end, I have had the jeep for a while and have just now noticed this , not sure if it's been this way all the time or not
The tension is to tight to put back on the little metal tab, anyone know how to install it back on?

i have a 2000 model 5 speed transmission and 2.5l engine

Ok upon further research It appears to be cruise control cable, not sure if it's hard to put back on but it seems to not move enough to put back onto the metal end


It's not to important as I don't really need cruise control just wanted to make sure it was nothing major

Pull the throttle open and clip it back on. Make sure that it doesn't hold the throttle open.

It's not to important as I don't really need cruise control just wanted to make sure it was nothing major

I'd be more concerned over the missing screw that holds the throttle cable bracket to the manifold than I would the disconnected CC cable. Need to make sure that isn't the only one missing in that bracket.
