Guys,
New to TJs and new to the Forum. What an awesome resource.
Just bought an 2004 TJ 4.0 w 42RLE. Build sheet says it is a Sport (despite the Sahara stickers on the body). Seller was clueless. Came with a small lift, 33s (285/75/16s), and what appears to be stock gearing. YIKES! I have to turn off the OD on any highway hills. Will primarily be a motorhome dinghy. Dirt roads, easier trails, no crawling and no additional lift. Like to stay with 33s. Maybe go to 15" wheels. Probably 80-90% pavement. Likely to go with 4.56 gears as a compromise. Don't envision needing lockers, but who knows? .
Build sheet also says Dana 30/186MM front and Dana M35/194MM.
Couple questions:
1. Is the 35 a limited slip?
2. If it is NOT, will it make sense to add that at re-gear?
3. Better to just go the extra mile and add a rear locker?
4. Any guess on cost to add a locker?
5. Additional advice?
Thanks All.
