What should I price a broken engine at?

I swapped the 4.0 out of my 2000 Wrangler and now looking to sell it. Not sure what to price it at, just curious what some of y'all think.

It runs, but one of the cylinders was getting about 55 psi during compression test and it was getting about 13 mpg. It has 164xxx miles on it.

I've searched Marketplace and Craigslist and haven't found anything similar to base it off of.

Edit: I should also mention it has a P0300 code, multiple cylinder misfire. And although I couldn't tell from the leakdown test, I have a feeling it has a bad piston ring(s), possibly valve seals.

You can get a running 4.0 for 500 bucks… I’d say 1-200 at best, or scrap it for metal.

Oh man, you’re right then. I would say at most it’s worth whatever a core charge would be.

Could be fixable fairly easy too. Those years had issues with the head cracking.

Right now it's in a friends garage, 1500 miles away, so I'm trying to get it gone for him. But he could be talked into a rebuild or stroker.

back when I bought it, the stroker kit was under $1000 (follow the link, it was a stage 2 kit with a couple options added) add the gaskets and assembly lube, plus anything else you might want to replace while it's apart...like mine has a melling oil pump and timing chain, an aftermarket valve cover, and headers

I’ve never sold a broke motor, I’ve either rebuilt them or gave them to someone who needed a core, exception being for a cracked block. Those go to scrap
