None of my hobbies have ever been cheap… the jeep at least has tangible results, the 500+ concert tickets made for some good memories though.
Yours and mine both. I feel like this is somewhat typical amongst men.
I like nice things. I have no shame in that. My grandfather thought he could pad his pockets on the way to the pearly gates… I’m planning on showing up tattered, tired and penniless. I realized a few years ago the lifestyle I wanted to live didn’t match the income I was receiving. Once I was able to come to terms with stomaching 4 or 5 more years of school, the real changes started… pretty soon I’ll be Dr. Treetop.
I don’t disagree with you. Your born with nothing and you die with nothing. Hoarding all that money so you can die with it makes no sense to me. I get it if you want to leave something to your kids, but life is also too short to not enjoy it by spending money on things you like.

we have to have a license to fish and hunt, open a business, drive a car or get married.....but any asshole is allowed to reproduce as many offspring as they can plant.
around here they'll have a baseball teams worth of crumb snatchers just so their monthly public assistance gets bumped up. and i'm not talkin color here, it's rampant all around.
i'd like to see marriage licenses for 2yrs, with the option at the 2yr mark for both parties to walk away with what they brought, free and clear of forced support (no offspring allowed). at the 2yr mark you can re-up for a 5yr license. if you clear that then you get re-upped for life and you're then permitted to reproduce. i know it sounds harsh and socialistic, but i'm open to hear other suggestions.
i'm down for paying people on PA a flat fee to get snipped. rather drop 5k cash per to stop them from breeding children they don't take care of. saving the sys 100's of thousands of dollars to house their criminals and or support them on PA the rest of their days.
it can be made reversible for women and if they get to a better position and independent of public assistance they could repay the 5k and get it reversed.
again seems harsh, stepping on everybody's right to clog the sys with neglected kids.
as far as voting.. that's easy, they do what their idols and friends do, they don't have to know or think of who the better candidate is, it's red or blue based on you're friends list. the man behind the colors is of no consequence. there is no unbiased source of political education so it's been clouded to vote your favorite color is all.

We've already warned our kids that there won't be shit left when we pass. I used to hope that the last check I wrote bounced, but who writes checks anymore?
We are. We have a complete collapse of core values, an education system that does almost nothing to prepare children for the rear world, and what little it did do is quickly going out the door....and a public consciousness that is not fighting it but embracing it.
Here is my take -
This starts with failed parenting strategies and the parents have won against the school system. Kids are only special to mom and dad- once they hit the front door they are just another snot nose kid in the front door. They need to learn to WORK to stand out. More on work in off topic soon.
We need to recognize the idiots we are creating and start making changes to stop doing it. An 18 year old boy that doesn’t know how to pump gas in 2022 is developmentally way behind an 18 year old at Normandy 80 years ago. I can only imagine the leadership we will get from these morons.
The world awards only by contribution. Children need to be taught how to do that.
Participation trophies? Uh no. The science says it embarrasses the recipient and devalues the winner.
Losing is ok. Actually it is more than ok-
First to lose you have to try to win. That means you got off the couch and got in the game. Secondly losing teaches you what you did wrong, and that shows you where to strengthen yourself. Losing is also part of our lives, on average 53 percent of the time we lost. But 47 percent of a lot is a lot, so play life's game.
