Hi everyone, I’ve recently inspected a TJ and came a across something I’ve not seen before. A bracket attached to the rear Dana 44. See below picture, what is it? Any concern?

Track bar brace? Usually those are mounted on the axle tube tho.

I dunno, but the thing looks jank AF.

Can we get a better photo of what it's connected to underneath?

That diff cover doesn't look stock either. Something welded to it. Does the differential have a locker? OX maybe with a cable. Perhaps the bracket is a guard?

What is jank? Is that anything like yank or Yankee?

As taken from the Urban Dictionary:

Jank
adj- broken; unnecessarily redundant, superfluous, or meaningless; stupid or ridiculously moronic; bootleg or of questionable quality.

Okay, thanks. I guess they didn't teach those words in school. You kind of have to pick them up on the street.🤘

Being a possible export model and seeing the rear disk brakes, plus over spray on the shock, anything is possible. Can you get a photograph of the frame sections over the axles? It may give a clue to a second mounting point...
