Where does this hose go?

Can someone tell what this hose is for and were it is supposed to go? Noticed it dangling the other day and teperarly zipped it to that random bracket.

I'm writing this while relaxing under the Jeep

Likely the transfer case. Follow it back and see what it’s attached to.

I don’t remember in the transmissions have a breather hose or not. Whatever it goes to, it should be routed up to a higher point.

I think that's the Headlight Rotater Valve......

Definitely looks like a breather to something and, as @MountaineerTom pointed out, should be mounted much higher in order to keep it out of any water.

Yes it is the breather for your transfer case most likely because of where it is.
You should have one on your front axle, transfer case and rear axle. That breather if it is from your transfer case was routed up to your firewall. The front axle is normally on the firewall also and the rear axle is near the fuel filler tube.

No it is a breather tube that allows your transfer case or axle to vent gases as it builds up heat from driving. And by putting it up higher it allows no water to get into those items.

...which brings up a good point; once you determine what it goes to, you should check the condition of the fluid in that component to look for water contamination. Actually, for any Jeep that is new to you, this is a good idea; front and rear axle, transmision, and transfer case.

Yes it is new to me within a month and I am working on changing all the fluids and other preventative maintenance. It's been confusing though trying to figger out how much fluid for what and what type. Took a look at the tranny fluid this evening which is next on the list and is teribble!!!! Almost chocolate milk color!

Not good, you need to check your axles and transfer case then ASAP.

My front axle vent is up by the radiator overflow tank, mounted to the radiator support.

You are correct. I got it confused with another breather. My stock front axle breather tube was near the radiator.
