I've got a story about that...
Actually two stories.
I was having trouble sleeping..so my cousin and a buddy came over and one of them brought me one of their wives ambiens ... And I took it not knowing it was kind that acts pretty much instantly... Boy was there a scene at my house . Everybody freaked .
Story 2, and I promise this is true -
I was having a. Of time where I had trouble sleeping so I got up early and didn't drink much caffeine and got home and took a couple of ibuprofen and went to bed
..
I went to sleep and slept real deep and I had a dream...I dreamed I couldn't sleep.
I declare , I 'm still trying to comprehend that.
I Ride my KTM at CMRA, that is Carter mountain and it's just over in your state north west of the skyline area ... I went to take a dump and nearly got on one about 3 and 1/2 for 4 ft long... Timber rattler
Those things have a powerful laxative effect.
I was on it for about 2 years, I had some pretty bad flashback like dreams where my wife had to leave the room thinking I was about to kill her. Scary stuff
Apparently most people are here because they can't sleep at night. That's why I was on at 4am the other day. Generic Pain Reliever PM version works, or drink a little more Bourbon.

I'm here bc when I was doing all my research on buying a TJ this forum had the absolute best information in what to look for. I'm still here bc well it's pretty cool too. 
I joined my first forum about a year before this one. A "Panther Platform" forum (Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car). I think I had about twenty five posts, and then just bailed. Not sure what I was looking for, but knew that wasn't it. Then when the purchase of my '98 Sahara was imminent, I started researching all manner of things regarding the TJs. I kept pulling up information from this forum, and really appreciating the way the members presented the info and answered questions in a generally non-condescending manner. Lots of firsthand experience and technical advice, with a nice blend of humor. Once I actually purchased my eternal project, I decided to join the ranks on the forum, and have never looked back. I sometimes feel that I don't have much to offer, as my background is more of an "automotive slut" than a TJ guy (I'll own and drive anything), but that's pretty much my own issue, as no one on here has ever been guilty of making me feel that way. In fact, this has been the most welcoming bunch of folks you could ever hope to meet. Kudos to you all for what you bring to the forum.
First, why I stay here. I stay here because of people like you, Andy. I joined right after I got my TJ and, within the first week, I had to unexpectedly spend $1,800 in repairs. Boy, I was disappointed and had buyer's remorse. Andy replied to a thread of mine and I still remember what he said...."When I bought mine, I made the wrong decision , but in the end, I made the decision right". He also said, "something doesn't have to be perfect to be great". That made me feel a lot better. Lots of wisdom in those statements.
I stick around because there is no hostility or degredation of other's posts. I've asked some pretty basic questions and no one has ever made a negative comment.
Like others have also said, lots of knowledgeable people on here.

‘Why am I here?” Let me go for a drive in my lincoln and I’ll let you know....crap, I don’t own a lincoln, guess we’ll never know. I usually don’t think existential thoughts in my Tj ‘cause I’m having too much fun.
Like many, I found the forum from when it popped up in searches for repair questions. The more I read, the more I realized that there are people here that know what they are talking about and care that the info they pass on is correct. No question is treated as dumb. No “stupid noob” comments. New members are welcomed.
Rarely does a day pass that when surfing through I don’t learn something new or find a new idea or mod to contemplate.
All that, and Squatch masterfully derailing threads. What’s not to like here?

Because there is a massive amount of knowledge here and it teaches me to work on my own rig instead of bringing it in to a shop. Great members, and great technical discussion. The website is incredibly easy and user friendly.
I started at WF and enjoyed that for a bit, but got tired of the same old questions. Went to JF but those topics get derailed so easily and the activity has been way way down the last couple years. Plus the photobucket fiasco had hurt all the old threads.

And 2 years later you have over 5,000 posts on here.
My turn signals crapped out and my Haynes manual was less than useless. Come to think of it, that Haynes manual would barely qualify as a fire starter.
Anyway, I’ve been a forum rat for years. Bicycles, motorcycles, camp stoves, old Mopars, etc. I can usually tell by reading through the posts if I’ll find the forum useful or a waste of my time. This one is most definitely useful.

I’m here because I wanted to TJ so badly and I fought so hard for it to be my first car and I succeeded. My father died in 2009 and knew a lot about cars. I don’t have his knowledge. This form is here for me and it makes me smerk with excitement for learning
One thing is for sure, it has kept my television viewing way down!And 2 years later you have over 5,000 posts on here.
