Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Grill support is done and the rubber mount reinstalled. YES, I know it's not in the pictures but believe me I really did install it.

Then I'd finished trimming the bumper for the 8274 mount and before I didn't anything more permanent with it I wanted to make sure that the winch was going to fit.

IMO there is just something about the 8274 on a Jeep... I just LOVE the look.

I can run either the roller fairlead or a hawse fairlead but IMO it just looks better with the roller fairlead.

It fits with about the same amount of room that I had before. The winch will be getting rebuilt prior to it being put on here.

I'll be picking @Blackjack brain as I am doing that. I had the older style 3-prong wired remote but when I do the rebuild, I'll be going to a contactor instead of solenoids, so I'll be going to the 5-prong style.

Here to help.

The fiberglass hood does have the spot for the safety latch to fit. I'd just have to set the stock hood next to it and make sure my measurements were spot on.

Here's the stock hood. The area is reinforced by a plate that is pop riveted to the inside.

You have a rare 97 with that particular hood. Most TJ's have the safety catch on the hood and the "hole" is in the grill shell

I was told that they didn't switch the other style until 2000 or something like that. The other hood I have is from a newer one with the other style safety latch.

I'd painted the grill support rod yesterday but had forgotten to get pictures. The White isn't a perfect match but works.

And the reservoir is connected to it also just to help keep it from moving around. I used a small spacer on the front tab to make it level.

I had to move the windshield washer reservoir some to clear the power steering reservoir but was able to without having to add new holes to the inner fender.

Everything clears great.

Added clamps to the wiring harness.

WOW I feel like I didn't get anything done today but I really did. I bought one of the headlight wiring upgrades from @Chris a while back so installed it. Had to partly disassemble the grill to fish the wiring thru. But think I've got it laid out how I want the wiring to sit. Then installed the headlight housing I'd also bought from Chris. I'm missing two of the retainer screws and then also had one that was stripped out. So got new ones coming.

Should be receiving the parts I need to get the steering lines all hooked up Friday. The fittings for the transmission are supposed to arrive today but I haven't gotten them yet.

Like I said I have an extra loaded grill just kind of occupying space that you're welcome to if you want it.. It's not white though....🙃

It's all good. I think after looking at that fiberglass hood that I can cut the hole in it for the latch. It's interesting that they molded that area into the hood.

Curious to see if they reinforced it so it to be used as a safety catch

Well I have to move the plate over from the stock hood. I can always make a small plate to rivet to that area too. I'll drill a hole in the center of where I'm going to cut it out first to see how think it is in that area.
