Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Started packing away my gear that I carry.

Welding cables, welding hood, gloves, safety googles and a set of googles with dark lens so someone can assist with the welding.

Hub socket wrapped so it doesn't rattle.

20241018_120128.jpg

Oil bottle adapter for less spillage.

20241018_120157.jpg

I'll also put in a small funnel for the transmission.

Tire pliers for fixing a flat.

20241018_120217.jpg

Also a Max Ax kit.

Tire repair kit

20241018_120234.jpg

Air hose and chuck.

20241018_120252.jpg

1350 u-joints for my driveline. Have RCV on the front so don't need any axle shaft joints.

20241018_120353.jpg

Thread tape.

20241018_120401.jpg

Power steering and transmission fluid.

20241018_120809.jpg

20241018_120815.jpg

Shovel

20241018_120823.jpg

U-joint straps for the front axle and u-bolts for the rear axle.

20241018_121215.jpg

Fid kit for fixing the winchline.

20241018_121243.jpg

20241018_121251.jpg

Mechanic gloves

20241018_121304.jpg

AiRock repair kit

20241018_121409.jpg

Recovery gear. TRE snatch block.

20241018_121307.jpg

30' strap and a 10' tree saver that's already in the drawer. Plus a 30' winchline extension.

20241018_122409.jpg

Snatch ring and 2 soft shackles.

20241018_122532.jpg

Then spill kits from the PNW4WDA. They handed them out @ the Trail Jamboree. Nice to have if you have a breakdown.

20241018_122421.jpg

Another one of those projects on my to-do list is to get my throttle hooked up for the on-board welder. I'll try to copy what @NashvilleTJ did with his.

20241018_122642.jpg

And I found a heim for the hydo-assist ram but it's my old one and is froze up. I'll see if I can get it freed up.

20241018_122659.jpg

I'd acquired a few of these tie-down straps before I'd left the military. I love them and try to use them whenever I've got cables or rope that needs to be kept spooled.

20241018_132646.jpg

The wired winch controller goes in the drawer since I've got in-cab winch controls.

20241018_132718.jpg

Tree saver I'd mentioned earlier and the TRE snatch block.

20241018_132728.jpg

Since I don't use it enough I carry the manual for the on-board welder.

20241018_132739.jpg

Put in the compartment with the welding gear.

20241018_132801.jpg

Now to figure out what tools I'm going to carry. I used to have a hardside toolbox I carried but with this Tuffy drawer I'll go to a soft toolbag instead. It'll go into this last spot.

20241018_132808.jpg

And the spill kits go in the halfbox.

20241018_132817.jpg

I'm about done packing gear now.

Kroil may do it if you have some.

I have this oil that RuffStuff sells for heim joints.

20241018_132857.jpg

It freed up the ball but DAMN IT PSC changed the shaft size somewhere along the way. Still haven't found the new heim I thought I'd bought 😕.

20241018_134205.jpg

But in my excitement thinking I could mock-up the hydo-assist ram I'd found the rest of the parts for the end of the ram.

20241018_134603.jpg

Now I'll just have to wait until Wednesday for the new heim joint to arrive. Back when this project started I'd sent my old hydo-assist ram and steering box back to PSC to get rebuilt. Once it'd arrived they'd called me to say that they couldn't rebuild the ram. But I'm not sure if they'd mentioned that they'd increased the shaft size which was why they couldn't rebuild the old ram. So now I'm wondering if I did buy a new heim or not?

Either way I've got other things that I can be doing until Wednesday.

@TheBoogieman will be proud that you have your Halloween/serial killer kit all in one convenient storage box (axe, shovel,...). (y)

Dug out my welding rod holder. Use straps to hold it onto the rollcage. I'd used a bungie on the bottom before & I think I will again.

20241018_142931.jpg

The chipping hammer was with that rod holder but I put it into the drawer this time.

20241018_143021.jpg

I've got two different hub wrenches that I need to figure out where to put.

20241018_143424.jpg

20241018_143548.jpg

I'd like to get something like the snap clamps they make for broom handles and clamp the metal one to the cage up by the door or down by the seat?

20241018_143701.jpg

Finally got the flashlight clips mounted.

20241018_151353.jpg

I've always just carried it loose down by the seat.

20241018_153148.jpg

Added a magnet to the GPS receiver for the stereo so I could attach it to the cage in front of the overhead console.

I've a Mag-Lite in the same spot in rubber strap-over cramps. Had an original incandescent and switch that ones' bulb out for an LED-replacement bulb.

The switch finally went on that one and it was only a few bucks more to replace the entire Mag-Lite vs just the switch - so now I have the LED Mag-Lite and it is considerably brighter than the LED-bulb upgrade in the original style.

I did the LED conversion on this Mag-Lite a while ago. I've been carrying that Mag-Lite in this Jeep since I bought it and carried it in Samurai before that and carried it when I was a OTR driver. I'd guess I bought it in 1995 or 96. I've got a 4 cell one that I've had for about the same length of time.

Thought I'd come up with a holder for the hub wrench... But no such luck. This is for a motorcycle to hold a soda or coffee cup.

20241018_215706.jpg

But this is my idea only smaller.

20241018_215713.jpg

Then I decided I'd get the air lines replaced for the gauges. Once I'd finally gotten the air lines ran I needed a T fitting out of the AiRock kit so I got to use the lights in the drawer for the first time.

20241018_234837.jpg

And then of course I had to test the system out and make sure it was working.

20241018_235302.jpg

We're all good. Now I'll need to drive it a few times and verify that these lines don't blow out like the last ones did.
