Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Has he been with you at Moab?

No. I didn't have him the last time I'd gone to Moab. He won't be going this year either since he doesn't like riding in a vehicle anymore...

This was May 2010 and he was on a run with me.

I had a vet appointment early this morning and will have to take my dog back in for some more tests to get a full answer. He's 13 and getting older so I'm not totally shocked... But the vet found a irregular heart beat so wants to do a EKG... And he needs a dental cleaning..

Gave you the 'USA Proud' on this post for the model. Completely missed the last sentences... :(

Hope all goes well for your pup! We lost ours at 14 a couple years ago and that was too young... Praying for your pup!

Thanks... For both comments. I had a big scare with him a few years ago when they found a large mass near his liver but it turned out to be OK and he was cleared. That was an expensive time with the vet...
I've owned enough animals and had to put a few down so I know I'll be OK when I comes but ain't looking forward to it.

She was our first - so it wasn't easy. Now, thinking a few years from now when the boys are older - we'll get another, it won't be easy the second (or more) time... They become part of the family.

I had a buddy years ago at work had to put his dog down. At the time, I had never had a pet (sister was allergic and wife & I weren't in a house yet) so I didn't get how hard it hit him. After having Bella - I get how much family they are!

You may be OK - but that doesn't mean it isn't hard and impactful, and that's an OK to go through because they mattered to you (us).

Losing a pet is hard and I won't say it won't affect me just meaning I've been preparing myself now for a while.

When I was 8 or 9 years old I had to shoot a dog of mine because it'd gotten hit by a car and was suffering laying in the ditch. Then before that someone had poisoned my Great Dane dog that I had. She died laying in my arms...

Then when as a kid living in AK I had to put a few of my dogs down that had gotten attacked by stray dogs and there wasn't a vet service in the village we lived in. Then when I was stationed in Germany we had a dog when my son was a toddler that all of a sudden became aggressive and almost attacked someone walk past us when we were camping. And over time I've had to put a few more pets down.

My point is that I've been there & I've got that t-shirt... I know what to expect and when the time comes will deal with it.

Damn - that's a lot of hard rides.

Well, regardless of how the pup path forward looks - at that age, spoil! That was our approach when we realized we had weeks to go. All the best wet foods (Blue Buffalo has some fun mixes on their wet food), all the best table scraps, etc. Treat them like we'd treat any of our human elders - they earned the good stuff.

I always laughed when my family tried to pull back my grandfather's multiple Manhattans a day when he was 85 — he deserved as many as he wanted. He ended up tailoring them off as he aged and made it to 100. Let those who earned it be spoiled. (y)

I got my current dog when I was having my issues with leg & couldn't walk. Having a lap dog was something I'd always said I'd never do but changed my mind. He was a great companion when all I could do was sit... So yes for however long he has left he'll be getting spoiled...

And I'm enjoying however many years I've got left at this point since I really didn't think I was gunna see 60 10 years ago...

I love all dogs and don't think I could live without them. I have had many breads but I have had English Bulldogs for over 65 years. That's because they are the only dog that I am smarter than.

Did you know your dog is a Democrat. You house him, you take it to the vet, you feed him, you clean up his shit, etc.

What a day......

I had my annual amputation appointment today at the VA which when great. Get to order a new pair of boots... Yahoo.

Then had my dental appointment. That went about how I'd figured.... Going in on 21 April to have the rest of my teeth pulled 😬.... So no @lBasket burritos for me in Moab...

Then as I'm pulling out of the parking garage my BIL & sister call me 🤙.
They tell me they're over @ their cabin near Conconully, WA and the transmission in their F350 is acting up 🤪😒. So I tried to do a little diagnosis over the phone. Nope it's toast... tell them to just park it and call the tow truck.

So I drove over to give them a ride home.

Plan on visiting for a while tomorrow morning then heading back home and hopefully will work on the Jeep Sunday.
Got a run in a few weeks so I've got to get busy.

Happy belated birthday, Rick! For some reason, your build thread dropped off my alerts and I haven't gotten any since mid-March. Sorry to hear about the health issues. I'm rootin' for Moab for you!

Thanks was a good Bday....

I'll make it to Moab this year come Hell or High Water......

Finally made some headway with the front axle after having to wait for parts.

ARB installed and bearing cap bolts torqued to 85 ft lb. Just like the ring gear bolts the shop that had done this gear install hadn't used any Loctite on the bolts... I used some. Ring gear bolts were torqued to 50 ft lb.

Then I installed the bearing cups into the Reid knuckles.

No need for lots of pictures of installing them since it's the same as ball joints.

The BJD pins get installed into the "C" and torqued down to 60 ft lb.

I still need to do that which is why the nuts aren't seated.

Does the locker hold air now?
