Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

I'm still a long ways from needing this. I've got to figure out where to cut the frame and then how I am going to support the rear section once I get it cut off. I need to really look at what is back there and go back and read Blaine's post in jjvw's thread about what he does with the torque box.

I'm definitely not trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to doing this. Blaine is the SMA when it comes to doing stuff like this.
If you bob the frame that sticks out, you can lay it out so that it eliminates the 1.25" body lift puck naturally as the cut moves up the slope of the rear arch.

Great, hadn't thought about that.

@mrblaine here is where the rear brackets are sitting.

For being on the Jeep for 17 years the tub looks 👌.

But damn they held a lot of mud up under them.

Their off and I'll clean the rockers before I install the Savvy rockers.

Here is the clearance issues with the rear crossmember.

If I was to notch the crossmember this is about how much I'd have to take out.

Blaine's option of cutting the frame and moving it back makes more sense I think and with his instructions I think I can manage it.

That 'tis but a trim. You made sound like a problem. As a point of reference, this crossmember has been moved forward and is centered in the middle of the wheel arch. I sectioned out the middle of it for diff clearance and you can see the notch in the floor crossmember. I ran a tube across behind it and brought outriggers forward to pick up the ends of the crossmember. The head of the bolt you see on the left is what holds up the gas tank on one side.

That doesn't answer the question I asked.

1 1/2" from the bend in the frame. I thought that as many of these as you've done a picture would be enough. I'd still like to raise the rear no matter which way I do this.

I'd said I was going to have to notch the crewmember. So is it o.k. to just notch that area out and not stretched the frame?

The pictures do not clearly show the bend in the frame. That distance also makes me question your 99" final measurement since the mount is typically right at the bend.

Everything is okay until it isn't.

The way it was sitting yesterday when I measured it I was at 99" but I will go back and check it again.
My front axle is about a inch forward because the coil bucket is almost directly over the axle instead of forward of it like stock.

If I cut out that section on the crossmember is there anything I need to do after that to strengthen it?

What tank is that in these pictures?

You're making me still think about cutting the frame and moving it back. Now that I have decided to go with a fuel cell there isn't any reason to not do it.
If you look closely, you'll see that one of the cuts is in the middle of the mid arm bracket. I laid out where the bracket went, center punched a vertical line at the back of the mount so I would not lose the reference, and then cut the frame in the middle of the mount so that cut was reinforced by the C on the mount. (pro tip- do not weld the mounts on until the frame is aligned and welded back together.)

Yes I did notice that and you had mentioned it before that this was how you liked to do it. I am liking this and since tox has the tube it makes it even easier. Yes I do listen to what you say. And I do try to pay attention to the information you share.

Something else I just thought of that I'm fairly sure you can answer. I have the rear anti-rock kit that I want to install. How would I install it if I do this? Put it in front instead of in the rear of the axle?

Well, I'm sure this would be easier if I believed in build threads but I don't. I much prefer to strew about nuggets of experience like a drunken Easter bunny with nary a whit of care as to where the Easter eggs land.
