Will a hardtop from a JK fit a TJ?

Is that true even if both are 2D?
Yes. Jk is boxy and bigger, its doors are quadratish whereas tj doors have grooves. Search for solo x overland if you are penny pincher. He has diy hardtop. But if you live in usa i would just monitor craigslist non stop with monitoring apps

For sure. All the good deals on FB marketplace are gone within a day in my area. You can find an affordable TJ hardtop in good condition, you just need to check FB marketplace daily.

Just need a little duct tape to fill in the gaps.
I had a soft top off my 07 that I sold at a garage sale to a guy with a 93. Told him it wouldn't fit but he was hell bent on trying. He took it home and called me couple hours later wanting to return it. Sorry no returns at a garage sale.

I fully expected those too parts of your post to line up perfectly thanks to duct tape doing the job. I was even hoping there was enough information to get the JK hard top to work on the TJ.

Unfortunately we got this  :

At least we got a decent ending:
