I got into this when I saw a recent TJ steering wheel with cruise control go up for sale. The 99-04 WJ steering wheel was shifted to the TJ in 03-06. I am fairly confident the splines are the same, but I don't know if the cruise control and airbag are a straight swap. Does anyone know or have a WJ FSM? It would be nice to know since there are tons of WJ steering wheels with cruise control, but not many TJ's.

Yes they do mount up the same.
The cruise wiring inside the WJ wheel has an extension to go from the cruise buttons to the clockspring. Remove the extension and the TJ wiring connects directly to the buttons.
I don't know about the airbag but it looks similar...
The part number on the cast aluminum center of the steering wheel is the same for the 2.

Wanna trade?! 😉 😂

I might do that sometime. After having the Rubicon with cruise control, I really like that option.

the steering wheel for a WJ is a straight swap to an 03-06 tj/wj. You have to reuse your airbag, I believe the wj is a 2 stage.
You can tranfer your switches over. I swapped a Overland steering wheel in my tj a few months ago.
One of the best mods I have done. No more sticky leather.

Hmmm, I wonder if you could also get the radio control buttons on the backside of the WJ steering wheel to work as well?

I know there’s a thread somewhere here where a member used a microcontroller to do that with an aftermarket stereo.

One of the key options I wanted was cruise. I didn't get it with the TJ. It was a bare bones Sport, with 1/2 console, single note horn, and one foot-well light. It doesn't even have the wiring cruise! :(

On the plus side, it also didn't come with rust. At least I have that going for me! :)
