Wiring for daytime running lights

I went through the firewall above the clutch and over to the glove box. I used #17 (cigar lighter) and it worked perfect for the DRL. On with key and off with key!! Now to zip-tie everything up and move on to the next project of many.

I'm a bit late to the party here... but, which color wire did you end up hooking up to the cigar lighter fuse behind your dash? Did you just use a fuse tap?

Also, were you able to get the halos to turn amber with the turn signals?

I posted a pic somewhere, you can get ACC on through the fusebox under the hood, an empty relay slot I think.

I went through your profile and was able to find the pic you posted. Is that the main power line, or the DRL line? Also, does your DRL turn amber for turn lights? My install diagrams shows connecting into a power line for the DRLs, and then connecting to the negative terminal on the battery as well. Is the battery line just a ground?

That "hot" is only on when your key is on.
It prb depends on what lights you have for everything to work. I do have switch backs, and they actually work. LED's are funky w/ TJ's, Jerry Bransford has a pretty big write up somewhere as well.
You can ground right to the frame. I don't remember off hand which colors went where for the turns and markers. I'm sure somebody else has done a write up on that as well. You may need to add an LED flasher relay so you don't get hyperflash. I'm pretty sure Chris has them in the store.

I found a lot of information out there making this halo installation a lot more complicated then it needed to be. All TJ fusebox diagrams can be found here: https://knigaproavto.ru/shemy/en/jeep/wrangler/920-1997-2006-jeep-wrangler-tj-fuse-box-diagram.html. For my 1998 TJ, I wired the halos into a fuse tap into the engine bay fuse box using #21. That gives you halos that turn on when the engine is running and off when it is not. Since they draw so little power, only a 1amp fuse is needed. I know this may not be the OEM install some people would prefer, but it works and only took about 20-30 minutes. My halos came with the anti-flickering device built into them. I did not hook up the amber halo turn signal, as I did not want that. I hope that helps someone looking for this issue in the future.

I did the same thing

My jeep had a factory hot lead taped up behind the glove box, I "think" it was blue. That is where I tied my DRL's into and I installed a fuse holder so that if I ever wanted to turn them off, I just pull the fuse.

I think I saw a video where someone tapped the fuel pump or injectors, something like that, in the main fuse box and it worked. Halos only one when engine is running, but are independent of the other lights.
