The JKU is a much better Daily Driver than a TJ when it's on the road, especially on freeways and when towing. I don't think a stock JKU is quite as good off road as a stock TJ. That may just be my opinion but if you're staying on the road it doesn't really matter.

FWIW, my wife's two door JK Sport drives more like her Subaru Forester than my TJ Rubicon when on the road and all 3 of them are stock except for the TJ's tires.

I agree that this may be the case in many instances. However, I own a 2006 LJR with no rust, no wiring issues, straight frame, no leaks, plain seats, operating heater (2 weeks of the year), wipers work fine, poor insulation and a new $200 sound system from Crutchfield. It is nearly stock (front bumper and winch, LED headlights, and stereo), but I have the original parts for the next owner. If you really want a TJ, look in the South and West for no rust and nearly stock. I don't know the going price in your neighborhood, but I have been offered $30k on the street, several times.

I am not a spring chicken and have owned many cars and trucks in my life. I've had two with which I have had a true emotional connection, maybe even a love for, which sounds completely unhinged and I know that. They were my old 2000 TJ Sport and the TJ I have now. I briefly had a JK a few years ago and it was a fine vehicle - kind of a buttoned-down, conservative version of the Jeep I used to have, And there was nothing wrong with that at all. But I sold it after a few months and started beating the bushes for another TJ. To me there's just something about the primitive rawness that's just so much more enjoyable. Makes driving almost a sport. Of course, everybody's different.

I certainly would, I don't like that the 2007 and newer Wranglers that pretty much run everything via a computer bus instead of wiring that is much easier to troubleshoot. Even the headlights are on a computer bus. From what I read, the latest Wranglers have a LOT more ways to generate Check Engine lights and they do just that... generate a lot more CELs.

I ended up trading my 2012 JKU for my 06 LJ. I wanted a more trail worthy rig and couldn't handle DD with my 2012. Break something and would need a rental car.

For my first few runs in the LJ, felt like I was cheating.

You have to weigh up the "Want to Need" factor, You want a TJ but you need a JK.
I would sell the JKU for a short wheelbase JK because you need it as a daily driver and once you start messing with a TJ other than cosmetics (And you will) then you will spend more time on this forum out of need rather than want.
I have another daily driver and a company pickup but wanted a TJ for a long time so I bought a TJ before I missed the boat on rising cost to get a decent one which it seems given recent prices you may already have ?
I DD my TJ to work 3 -4 days a week and my other car 3-4 days a week depending on how I feel, I drive my company pickup 6 days a week during working hours, I have options so dont need to rely on the TJ or even my car because my company pickup is business and personal use, I choose to leave it at work to drive the TJ out of want
If you have options of alternative daily transport at the ready then get a TJ.

Depends how far your daily drive is. I DD my TJ, but it’s only about 10 miles round trip. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever own a JK. Going to keep the TJ as long as I can get away with it (two kids) and then hang up my Jeep hat. If I ever get a Jeep again after that, it’ll be a TJ.

I guess the real question should be what do you want in a DD?
Does a jelly bean AWD crossover work for you? they get better mileage and ride smoother than either Jeep.
A Subaru could work for you if you can stand being in one, ( and don't mind changing head gaskets or viscous couplings)
BUT most of us understand the pluses and minuses of DDing a TJ.
This could be compared to riding a H.D. Shovelhead or an old Indian Chief, If you have to ask if
