You know you're getting old when...

I’m 40 and had shoulder surgery for a fully torn labrum 4 yrs ago. Still not fully functional and gives me a warning shot when I’m over using it. I thought I’d be back to normal in 6 months and now I’m thinking it’ll never be the same. Add it to the list I guess. My limit is reaching above my head mostly

That sucks! My doctor also suspected that I have torn my left labrum severely, and a minor tear on my right one. My right shoulder has healed slowly, but I can barely use my left.

I'm a chronic pain sufferer at 42. Misalignment between my T5 and T6 in a tricky area, had a "tib-fib" break 2 years ago that aches everyday like hell, costoconsritis, and I'm arthritic already :/

Yikes! I’m right there with ya. I could go on and on haha, Achilles rupture, back surgery needed but I’m doing PT instead. Broke my femur and nose in a car accident. Many surgeries. I feel alright most of the time but I’m definitely not what I once was.

I'm 56 and surviving cancer. I've had 3 month checkups for 3 years and no spreading. Yea!
I worked 11 years as a locomotive engineer then 13 years without a vacation while I owned my business until the Dr. said I had cancer and needed surgery. I called the company that had offered to buy my business a year earlier and accepted their offer. Built a camper van and traveled 5,600 mile from the midwest to the pacific northwest.
My whole adult life I've been working so I could enjoy my golden years. My advice is to enjoy life now! There is no guarantee.

You also know you’re getting old when you have to take Viagra to keep from peeing on your shoes!
My Dad passed away 3 years ago at age 89. Up until the end he told me took Viagra every day to ensure he didn't role out of bed in the middle of the night. :risas3:

I'm 65 and feel great. I'm the same weight that I was in high school ... but I was a lot taller then. I stopped playing recreational lacrosse about 7 years ago. I stopped coaching 2 years ago and what little running around I did with the kids has had a negative effect. I stay active though and it helps to take my mind off of getting older.

I've always said that "enjoy life now" because you don't know what's around the corner.

I still do most of what I used to except;
1) don't do dishes because of my back AND I never did them
2) I don't run- anywhere or any time
3) I quit backpacking because my feet said so and brain said "buy a Jeep- it will get you there"
4) The last peak I tried to bag- I turned to my old college bud and we said -what for- it's storming up there and walked back to basecamp while my son and son-in-law went up another 1200' and had to turn back
5) I split wood with a hydraulic splitter instead of maul
6) switched from canoes to kayaks
7) if its under the vehicle I let someone else put it on a lift.--can't lay on a creeper anymore.
6) I don't jump down anything
7) I don't walk center pivot truss rods 12' in the air
8) I stopped building and repairing stuff that had me 60' in the air with no safety gear.
9) I don't shovel snow more than 10 minutes
10) I quit managing people after 30 years of stress.

I do still chase my wife around but she don't move too fast:thumbup:
