Creature Comforts

I love my TJ and how basic the interior is, but over the years I've been spoiled by some of the cushy features of my 'other' vehicles, and wish I had them in my Jeep.

For instance, I love the backup camera in my other car, as well as the big touch screen stereo. Fortunately there are mods for the TJ to accommodate these features.

What other creature comforts do people wish they had in their Jeeps that they wish they could have (or have installed already)?

Nothing. I like the simplicity, the ability to go topless, and not having a bunch of distractions. Mine isn't a daily driver so if it was I may feel differently.

I'd like to install cruise one day. Would be nice for long trips. Maybe heated seats for winter.

After years of mine being relegated to the role of 'extra vehicle', I'm now starting to drive it more as an alternate daily driver. So although I would generally agree with you, a few upgrades don't seem like a bad thing for me least.

Mine IS my daily driver, and these are why I love it so much. If A/C wasn't standard I wouldn't have IT. The only time I turn it on is during Monsoon when the top is on because of the rain, and it's 98+ degrees out.
While cruise control would be nice, The Muddog isn't generally what we take on trips, my wife's Durango is. It had cruise, A/C, and lots of space, the whole nine yards.

I constantly hear, “Its a Jeep is is supposed to be dirty.” When I hear that I think of the word, “abused/neglected.” A raptor owner once told me this as I am looking at his truck. It was immaculately detailed. Not a speck of dirt on it...

So I may be the oddball but I love nice carpet and a factory looking interior when it comes to the TJ. I like welded in full roll cages, but I would be the first to turn my nose up at one crudely welded in with no attention to detail or interior compliment. IMO mods should compliment the existing Wrangler. I do feel this forum’s members have that strive for the most part.

Nice carpet, upgraded stereo speakers/amp, LED interior lights, window tint, and aftermarket seats are all creature comforts on my list. Did someone say cable shifter?

But aslo worth mentioning is a dimming rear view mirror like @JamesAndTheSahara recently installed as well as his factory aux radio mod. Those two mods alone can make it seem like a new Jeep when you get in it.

I haven't but they look just like the speaker pods that the towboat guys run on their towers. Pretty Good Idea!

For creature comforts...I like having an auto-dimming mirror with Temp readout, Decent tunes, bluetooth connectivity, and a stupid armrest. I think that is the thing I hate the most about the interior of my TJ...the lack of an armrest on the door. A couple of map lights in the rearview would be nice too. The seats are actually pretty good, the carpet is ok ( I'd like to replace mine). Heated seats are nice, but even better are cooled seats. I have them in my F150...SUPER awesome. Cures the swamp ass in a hurry.

Funny you mention those tubs. I saw a guy some weeks back with some and thought what a great idea. Get the marine versions and they can handle moisture as well as the general elements of an open to the air vehicle.

So true. I see them often on Wranglers at most of the events I go to in the South East.

I know this may seem like a handfull but often a quality seat upholstery tech could add a nice fold down armrest to your driver seat.

I also wanted to add the crawltunes are just wakeboarding speakers/housings. I have full intention of running two of these (Probably JL Audio/Rockford fosgate) when I do my rollcage!

I don't really need the bun warmer, but I like the idea of the heated steering wheel. I'm in SoCal and I push top-down season as far as I can. The problem is after the sun goes down the temperature drops significantly. I find myself pointing the vents at my knuckles and turning the heat up to high. A heated steering wheel might be just the thing for those chilly autumn nights.

Creature comforts in a TJ? Meh. My TJ is my daily driver, and the lack of creature comforts is what makes it a more enjoyable vehicle to drive everyday.

If I wanted creature comforts, I’d be driving a JKU/mini van.

Agreed. I like things to look like they were meant to be there when they left the factory. I can appreciate the guy who holds his Jeep together with cable ties and duct tape, but I prefer a nice clean look.

I just upgraded the stereo, put in LED lights, and cleaned the carpet (and plan on dyeing it soon). I also painted the dash because years of dirt were too much to clean properly. I really need new seats - mine are trashed and I put in fitted seat covers last year, but I noticed my butt is sagging a little more than I like.

1) upgraded stereo with sub. Great to have a stereo that can shine topless and doorless
2) Spidershade. A sure help to blistering sun in Tx
3) cruise control would be nice. Especially for longer trips, but I've never needed it so far
4) a backup cam would be nice ( I've got 5 kids), but I'd also like one on my front bumper for rock crawling.

That's about it, I like to keep it simple
