Question about Air Intake sensor

I just bought a new to me 05 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and it is giving an Intake Air Temp Sensor error. When I had the local Advanced Auto rep look at the codes he also monitored the Sensor itself and it was bouncing from 120,225,320. It seems pretty consistent. I replace the sensor but it still produced the same results. My questions are will this effect my fuel mileage and is there a way to bypass this sensor?

I don’t know for sure if it will affect gas mileage, but it may. Why bypass it? That doesn’t fix the issue.

What brand sensor did you replace it with? If you used a cheap aftermarket sensor from your local auto part store, that’s likely your issue. The only sensors these Wranglers like are OE Mopar sensors. Put anything else in there and they’ll fuss about it, and your error codes will never go away.

So that’s my guess! Get an OE Mopar sensor in there ASAP.

The code may go away on it's own if you let the vehicle sit with the battery unplugged for 10 minutes or so. However, that's not 100%, but it likely will.

If you have someone with a code reader, they can easily delete the code themselves. But no, the code will not go away right away in most cases without clearing it with a code reader or unplugging the battery for a while.
