Vibrations after re-gear

Set up my front control arms over the weekend and installed a new track bar. Bumpstops are pretty close to being centered at full bump. Tires fit in the wheel well nicely and shocks are not bottoming out.

Axles are squared to each other spot on. By an angle finder on the front diff my caster is about 6*. Going to take it out tonight and check for vibes and see if I need to adjust front pinion angle. The rear is within a degree with a digital angle finder.

Going to also get new tires tomorrow and a alignment. So hopefully al this will solve my vibration. It seems like a harmonic vibration but I hope that new tires and pinion angle will fix it before I start thinking of new front drive shaft.

One more question. Going to the mountains from Charlotte next weekend and I'm either going to be right at or a little over my 500 miles for my new gears. Should I change the fluid before I go or since I have at least 350 miles before I hit 500 should I wait and change it after I get back. It shouldn't be much over 500. Maybe 50 miles or so

Thanks

I know I said I removed the front drive shaft and then ones went away. Well I did it again and the vibes were totally still there. I guess I convinced myself in my head that they went away. So now I leaning towards the rear.

I drove to the mountains and back this weekend and it was all interstate. I noticed that the vibes start after 65. I had the top down which is another reason I thought it was the front. You can't feel them with the wind and outside noises. The way I could tell was I could actually see it in my rear view mirror. It would vibrate then stop and vibrate then stop. Only with my foot on the gas and over 65. If I were to coast over 65, then no vibration.

So, now I really leaning towards the rear. I want to pull it out and verify but I kinda scared to remove the rear drive shaft and try to go 70 with the locker in the front.

Any one got any suggestions or advice???

I have this issue as well - vibes coming from the rear.

I removed my Tom Woods rear driveshaft (I have an sye) and had it checked by a shop, they said there is no problem with it.

BUT when the rear driveshaft is removed, the vibes are gone.

Its an 03 TJ 4.0 auto. I have replaced my tranny mount and the issue is still there. It is also present when I turn off overdrive. Not sure what to do and it is driving me nuts. It starts at about 60mph and ramps up in amplitude the faster I go.

When did the vibes start happening, and what did you change? Did you re-gear?

I noticed the vibrations after I had my front axle regeared to 5.13. I had already regeared the rear and had not noticed any issues for the couple months I ran with the mismatched gears (no front driveshaft at the time).

Again, shortly after I had the front 5.13's installed, the pulsing vibrations came. It goes away when my rear driveshaft is pulled, which is funny because it is new and has been checked by a driveline shop. So then I had my 35" mtr's balanced. Still there. So then I changed my transmission mount.

Next step is to remove the front ds and take it to the shop (it is stock so it could use some fixin i am sure).

I just noticed a very small leak coming from the plug of my tcase on the rear facing end, probably due to the vibes.

Strange. So, if you pull the front drive shaft, the vibes go away, and if you pull the rear driveshaft and run the front the vibes go away?
I've changed so many things on my rig to try and solve my vibes I can't remember what's what. It's been over a year with no solution in sight.

What is the length of your rear driveshaft?

I have heard of SYE users still having vibe issues as the driveshaft is still arguably short.

You might consider checking your rear pinion as well.

Bob - no, the vibes only go away when the rear driveshaft is removed.

I am not sure of the length of my rear ds, but it was made for the vehicle and seemed good to go.

The rear pinion angle and ds angle are both at 19*

Bob, I can't remember what you said, but did you change your pinnion yoke and the yoke on your TC case???

I changed the front diff yoke, but I did not change out the TC input yoke. I also have not replaced the rear diff yoke, but that is on my list to change after I replace the trany mount and rear track bar(both are factory originals with 150K+ miles on them, plus I wanted an adjustable TB for the rear). I had a trany shop rebuild the TC and asked them to inspect the input yoke, so I'm hoping they didn't miss any possible damage to it. I think it's ok since the vibes go away when I remove the rear drive shaft.

Have you tried running in 4 high with both drive shafts installed? Mine goes away in 4 high

The trans mount seems like a good idea considering the high rate of spinning that is going on all over the jeep at 3000 rpm's. I put metalcloak track bar on my jeep and been very happy with them. I just keep going back to my rear pinion yoke. It's the only thing that hasn't been changed. My SSYE can't with a new one.

good evening
i have a serious problem and i would like help.
I have a jeep wrangler tj 2002 4.0. with 33-inch tires.
I just made some changes at the mechanic.
I changed the gear ratio in the front as well as in the back (from 3.07 to 4.10 as Jerry had advised me to thank).
I also at the same time changed the 4 ball joints (the 3 and the fourth one with a bar.)
the car stayed almost a month at the mechanic's.
I just recovered it just a few days ago.
at the beginning I did not know that it needed a break-in period, especially since the mechanic did not tell me anything, and so I was very imprudent (accelerations, speed ...)
since then I'm paying a lot more attention ...
but the problem is that I hear noises and I feel vibrations ...
I tried to determine when and how:
according to my tests, every time when I'm stopped and that I speed turn the steering wheel to the right or to the left, I hear noises and I feel as if there is something that hangs and who block the wheels and do not let them start ... I even have the impression that something will break ...
knowing that I do not know anything about mechanics, I doubt that the arms and kneecap.
another thing to report, the former owner of the cars had installed 5 inch wedges.
Thanks for steering me to an issue because I feel lost and I do not want to give up and sell the car I love.
