How do you insure your TJ?

Southern Farm Bureau, full coverage with the lowest deductibles they'll give me($500 I think).

When my YJ was stolen I had no problem collecting for the lights, winch, jack, and the ruined paint job. I think the total bill for all the missing stuff was like $3800. Agent said something about totaling the Jeep and I asked him to look up the value. He did that and then cut me a check less the $500 deductible.

Last windshield on my 2014 Explorer the insurance company paid out $1280 to safelite for an OEM windshield with camera re-calibration, yeah I got my moneys worth out the cheap cost of glass coverage.

As far as TJ insurance, I have full coverage with agreed price coverage of $14K. I pay under $500 per year for my TJ, 81 corvette and my 74 Triumph TR6 combined. American Collectors car insurance

I asked this question earlier in the regional forum. After being on full coverage since buying it I dropped mine to liability only with collision once it was no longer a daily driver.I paid my premium not to long ago and in the course of a year, I am saving $150 total. I haven't done it yet, but I do plan on going back to full. For such little savings that $150 can go to a much more robust insurance plan, even if it is a "toy".

I use State Farm and have never had a problem with any claims over the years.

full coverage with a 'special modifications' rider here, it's $10,000 in additional coverage to cover all the bullshit we pile onto these things that really don't increase its resale value but we do it anyway because at the end of the day we're really no different than we were when we were 7 years old laying in the dirt rolling Tonka Trucks around - when it comes to toys we've never been known for the best decisions - but we smile a lot
Who provides this policy?

I had used my YJ as collateral on a loan, so that's why it had full coverage. When I paid the loan off, I forgot to drop the insurance. Several months after it was recovered and repaired, we got the TJ. When I went to the insurance company to get the TJ insured she asked if I wanted full coverage. The answer to that was a no-brainer.
I don't know exactly what I pay on the Jeep, but the Jeep and my motorhome (also FC) run me around $900 a year for both.

New guy here. I currently have my TJ insured with Hagerty. Going from regular, liability-only insurance to full coverage with Hagerty actually saved me money, something like $200/year if I remember correctly. I've had some of my other vehicles insured with Hagerty for about 5 years now with no complaints, but also no claims. I had used Grundy before on my other vehicles, but they will not insure anything as new as a TJ or YJ. So if your Jeep is a toy and you qualify for Hagerty I recommend them, especially over standard insurance.

My vise is owning vehicles and currently own 7 after recently selling 3. I only have 2 with full coverage. I insure all at 100/300/100 with uninsured motorist coverage and 1K deductible. I also have a 3 million umbrella policy which covers any additional liability. Easy to rack up more than 100K in liabilities these days. I only have full coverage on a vehicle if I can’t go out and pay to replace it. I pay cash so I do not have to insure the bank. My jeeps are listed as recreational vehicles and that bring the cost down substantially. Also it pays to be an old fart and have a clean driving record.

I know a lawyer and I enjoy watching/reading lawyer blogs in my free time. One thing is common between a guy I know and guys I watch, they all at some point had to take State Farm to court to resolve car insurance despute and know someone who also had to battle with State Farm in court.
I don't deal with them, I don't know much more, but SF seems to be known to pull shenanigans. Take it for what it's worth.

Given the skyrocketing costs of replacing decent older Jeeps, I’ve always carried full coverage. It seems a no-brainer to me to pay $148.00 per year for a 2004 LJ and $131.00 per year for a 2000 XJ, for vehicles that are worth at least $12k and $5k, respectively. My deductible is $1000 and insurance is progressive. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, but what exactly is the purpose of saving a couple hundred bucks a year if you’re capable of replacing a vehicle in cash? I’d rather the insurance pay than me.

Do you know how they view modifications?
I have been meaning to get in touch with them and ask if they will cover everything as long as I have proof of purchase, or do I need to declare added value of mods, but it has been slipping my mind for the past 2 month now.
Honestly mine are so minor that I haven’t even checked. I have a bunch of stuff that I’m going to start doing in the next few months, and I’ll probably check with them once I start adding the expensive stuff. Right now I have a lot of parts but they’re not installed.

@Chris it would be interesting to see some age stats for the site if you’ve got them
I just enabled the "age" feature in Google Analytics. Apparently I didn't have it enabled before this. Anyways, I'll let the data collect and in a month or so I should have a decent idea of the average user age for this site.

Dang I wasn't getting notifications on this for some reason! Gonna be too hard to specifically quote people now dang it, but thanks for all the insight. I pay like 120 or so a month on both cars liability only, they're listed at like 5k miles/yr since I WFH and don't do much, so I can definitely afford to bump that up a little bit.

So my understanding is since my Jeep sits in my garage in my house, it is covered by my homeowner's insurance when it's "in storage" over the winter (still insured and registered but it's not really going anywhere). Is that how it works or is it more of an "it depends" situation?

I didn't actually know normal insurance companies would offer a modifications allowance. That's the big thing for me I think - I've probably put in what I bought it for at this point. I'll have to quote some normal companies too, but it sounds like I will need to dig up as many receipts as I can and tally up what I've put in so far. I bet that'll hurt lol.

Is this the same kind of deal as Hagerty?

Hagerty, tell them how much coverage you want, they will write the policy. I think I have $28 or $30k, and I pay $85/ month.
I think I saw you mention that in some thread once, I didn't really even know about them until then so thanks! So you don't have to "prove" it's worth that at any point with them? Either via receipts or appraisal
