Is this a Sahara?

I agree unfortunately there isn't much I can do. He's 3 hours away or 4 hours if I go at a bad time with LA traffic and the sun sets at 5 o clock right now I want to see it in the day light. I work the rest of the week and the weekend I've got a family funeral on Saturday and plans Sunday. I've assured him that I think his price is fair and that if everything checks out I intend to pay it, I even offered a deposit to hold it, he says if he gets any one else interested he'll contact me regarding a deposit but until then I am just planning on Monday leaving at the ass crack of dawn.

Additionally I asked about the non-stock fenders and he says they were added to cover the new upgraded/bigger tires. But I thought the saharas fenders were already wider, but maybe these are even wider?

If I end up picking it up I will update this thread. Thanks for all your help and cross your fingers for me.
The aftermarket flares he has on there are discontinued. They’re about an inch wider than Sahara/Rubicon flares. Rough Country now makes a flare this wide but that used to be the only extra size available for bigger tires without being ridiculously wide.

Good to know thank you!

The new RC flares are not 5.5" wide as advertised. They're about the same width as the Rubicon flares.

Alright got an update for all my new friends and TJ professionals

He sent me the carfax and it shows it's largely been sitting since 2008. 1,400 miles accrued during the past 14 years. Goes up slowly and predictably every 2 years with the smog check. What do you pros think? Im thinking the oil in the engine is 14 years old as well as all other fluids. The gasoline in the tank could be a year old or worse.

Some pics of the undercarriage also show a bit more surface rust than I was anticipating. But carfax confirms its only ever lived in Arizona and SoCal.

The rust on the axles is pretty superficial, no sweat there. The frame looks excellent. You will want to replace a lot of the rubber consumables(which you should do anyways) with it sitting like it has but I wouldn’t have any reservations about buying it. Seems like a great Jeep!

You’ll be pretty hard pressed to find a cleaner one with similar miles and price. If you pass on this, every Jeep you look at in your mind you will compare to this one.

The seats are a Sahara only model, and the Sahara's carpeting extends all the way up to the door opening instead of just staying on the flat part of the floor. The seats alone are a good clue it's a real Sahara.

Im thinking the same thing. Thanks. Besides all fluids and oils what rubber consumables should I start with?

Dana 35 on a Sahara? Maybe? Check the build sheet. There was a link for checking to the VIN.
I can confirm, I have a Sahara with a Dana 35. It was an optional extra on EVERY, non-rubicon/non-special edition, model with a 6 cyl. Some people who wanted a Sahara spent the money on the Dana 44, others sadly did not...
