Hey guys been into jeeps for a year had a YJ and gave it to my dad for Christmas. Now I bought a rust free 97 TJ for $4500.This is what I THINK I got so far.I just need help to firgure out more about the Dana and sye
And if the Dana came from another jeep a truck etc

-Dana 44 rear
-arb lockers in front and rear
-Arb compressor
-not sure about SYE or driveshaft I think driveshaft says spicer on it

I’m almost done installing all my new stuff

To determine IF there is a SYE; look at the rear driveshaft and there is a single U joint at the front yoke and rear of the driveshaft; you do not have a SYE installed. IF there are two U joints 90* opposed at the front yoke and a slider assembly at the rear differential there is a SYE.
The link below will show what the DC driveshaft for a SYE looks like.

You already have a SYE installed.
These are the SYE and TW driveshaft that I have...

You should not need the transfercase drop IF the difference in driveshaft to pinion yoke angles are approximately 0*
Hard to determine what your angular difference is, but IF it is not approximately 0* ;then that would explain the transfercase skidplate spacer.
Do you know IF your Jeep is lifted ? I see aftermarket non adjustable rear lower control arms.
IF you have a lift installed; the spacer was installed instead of adjustable rear upper control arms.

look like a super short SYE, but not a DC driveshaft. not sure that belongs there in that design.

pics to close to the diff but it does have a steel plug like a 44 would.
lower CA's do not appear to be adjustable , how bout pics of the upper links.

a DC driveshaft might rid you of the skid drop.

The transfercase end does have two U joints, but the angle the picture was taken makes the DC joint look different than what I have installed.
i see it now had to zoom in. my mistake.....good call. never seen 1 that in line b4, there is no break over angle at all.

and with some adjustable CA's could loose that drop.

Here are better pictures I hope.

Yes it had a 4” lift but shock blew so I put rough country 4” lift

Also should I take the drop down that I installed off???

Yea $4500 and there’s way more on it then I said above

With a 4" lift... IF you have adjustable rear upper control arms you will be able to remove the spacer for the transfercase skidplate and adjust the driveshaft to pinion angle to 0*; which may give you a little of the angle in the double cardan joint that someguysjeep is referencing.

Yea it had non adjustable control 😒

Lol yea found it pretty easily also
I keep contending with as many Jeep produced there are some out there to be had at really good prices.... you just have to move quick - good on you - good move

I'm not an expert on lifts, but by looking at that picture of the driveshaft, I'd say you could loose the transfer case drop.
It appears that if you raised the T/case, your rear u-joint angle would zero out and the DC joint would gain some angle.
From everything I've read in here, that's how a DC driveline should be set up.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd definitely take the spacer bars out from between the skid plate and frame. One thing you'll want to look before removing spacer bars is the radiator fan to shroud clearance. When you lift the transfer case the fan will lower slightly. It will probably have clearance but it's worth checking. Since you put the bars in It should move the fan back to it's previous position just fine.
As Old_Crow stated, your pinion angle will probably end up close to where it should be after lifting transfer case.

My fan started hitting the plastic out of no where but got that fixed. So since
Dumb and can’t firgure out the angle I’m guessing il take the drop bars out that’s kinda what I’m understanding from all this lol

Removing the transfercase drop spacers will not cause a problem with fan blade to shroud clearance.
