Show me your fire extinguisher mount

What type of extinguisher do people go with? I understand powder is better for putting out the fire, but foam won’t leave the same amount of mess.

I used a similar mount to the ones pictured above, except with rubber straps that wrap fully around the extinguisher. I also used a larger 8.3 lb extinguisher. It does not interfere with the fold and tumble, and if placed correctly, does not interfere with the slider adjustment either. The rubber straps form a positive engagement, so I'm not worried about the bottle coming loose in a high energy collision.

Once I finally get around to printing a larger 3D printer, I may try and print a newer low profile mount out of polycarbonate to see if I can save even more space.

This is how I did mine on both TJs. The seat slides over it fine and it's not in the way of my feet. I have a link to the spring steel mount if you're interested.

Here is my mount, I mounted it with a piece of angle to the seat mounting studs. The seat still slides and tumbles without interference.

I have mine mounted on the side of my seat. I used a bracket I found at work and rivnuts in the floor.

Get a piece of 1/8"x1" steel (like from Home Depot or Lowes) and cut it to 13" long. Bolt the mount to that and then bolt that to the seat base.

Thanks Jerry! Our jeep group had a meeting about switching to the 5lb over the smaller units after one of our jeeps rolled and caught fire. The 5lb & and the smaller units both will work for about the same time but the advantage of the 5lb is twice the amount of agent on the fire and the longer hose helps better target it on the fire source. This mount looks like a great solution to support the larger unit while keeping it out of way yet still easily accessable if needed.

I love the size of this. Have you had any issues and is it comparable to a 2.5lb or 5lb for the 100? I have been looking but really dont like the size and weight of traditional extinguishers and love the fact this is made for motorsports. Im thinking one beside each seat. I know its an old post but I am hoping you still have it and sorry for this hoping you have had a chance to discharge it.

I have been looking but really dont like the size and weight of traditional extinguishers and love the fact this is made for motorsports. Im thinking one beside each seat. I know its an old post but I am hoping you still have it and sorry for this hoping you have had a chance to discharge it.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but researched them some when looking for something for myself. In small fires it works fine, and we're talking really small fires. It takes a while to put some things out too. The biggest concern for me when I looked at them was that you have to practically stick your hand inside the fire for the extinguisher to do anything since it acts more like a flare than a traditional extinguisher. Since it seems to leave no mess, it might be good for small electrical fires or hose breaks where you can just replace the burnt part and keep going, but I would also carry around a traditional FE to take care of actual problems. Plenty of videos out there on them.

I still have it but have never had to use it yet and hopefully never need to
