Well..it’s getting crazier here in LA , people are stealing gas left and right. The locking caps on Amazon have terrible reviews , can anyone with experience recommend a locking cap for my TJ , thanks .

Had one once, mopar I think. Dropped it once because no tether. Got emissions code so went back to stock cap

Hoping a locking cap will keep the honest thieves away , there must be some out there that work properly , it doesn’t seem like an overly complicated part and I don’t see how it could cut the hose ?? But maybe I’m naive

I have a mopar one that is keyed to my ignition key. Got it from ebay few years ago. It came from a Jeep dealership in Arizona (Airpark Dodge Chrysler Jeep from Scottsdale, AZ). I paid $42.90 + $5 shipping. I got a OEM Mopar part, and the best part, they asked for my VIN# and it is keyed to my ignition key. No codes of any sort, no leaks. It does have a tether.

I don’t think a hose can get past the bobber
A small diameter plastic hose will. But it takes forever to drain the tank. I did this to drain mine for repair. However a thief is not going to wait. Hence the drilling/ hose cutting.
Short of storing in an alarmed garage, it’s near impossible to stop a determined gas stealing scumbag.

Better off with a locking door like this than you are a locking cap...
Neither one will stop someone from just stealing the whole vehicle or punching a hole in the tank though.

Watched a Casey LaDelle video on Youtube the other day. Someone tried stealing gas out of a U-Haul truck by drilling the tank. Apparently, the gas got on the drill and the sparks from the drill motor set it off. Truck pretty much burned to the ground.

Nobody steals gas without drilling a hole in your gas tank today. Steel skid or move to a better neighborhood.
Option #2. Stop being pussies and elect a President that offends you with "Mean Tweets" , but made this country great and didn't allow other countries to shit on us. Blame yourself for people stealing gas.
p.s. Sorry Chris. Feel free to delete this or ban me. That seems like where this country is going these days.
