TJ hesitates when pressing throttle

Hello everyone. I'm here to write to you, because I'm having a problem with my 2006 4.0L Tj Manual. In practice, when I am at a low number of RPMs, below 2000, pressing the full throttle pedal the TJ hesitates a second or two before delivering full power. Instead, starting from 3000rpm or higher, I don't seem to encounter this problem. Once started, it quietly runs all its rpm up to the rev limiter. I don't have any check engine lights on, I have only noticed this hesitation for a few days. It is as if it takes a second or two to receive the pedal command and deliver the power, as if it has a delay. Sometimes, just below 2k rpm, keeping the pace constant and the gas pedal constantly, it seems to falter, but I don't know if this second case could be a placebo effect. I hope I have been able to explain my problem and I apologize for the bad English.

Don’t apologize for something that doesn’t warrant correcting. Hard to feel bad when you are using your second, maybe fifth, language.

Now, let’s boil this down. What gear are you in when trying to accelerate from less that 2K rpm?
Hi thanks for understanding. I have tried both 1st gear and 2nd gear and I also notice this problem with both gears. I press the gas pedal, it seems to start delivering power, then hesitates for a second or two, after which it begins to deliver all the torque it has up to the rev limiter. If I put the first gear on the rev limiter, when I shift into second, I am at about 3k rpm, and I continue to keep the gas pedal down, I do not seem to notice this problem, or it is very small.

Maybe a complete tune up is in order. Also, cleaning the throttle body may eliminate what could be a sticky throttle plate causing some of the hesitation. These vehicles use a throttle cable so check that that is running smoothly in the housing and no kinks In the routing.

Thanks for the answer, I was wondering, is there any sensor with code that could indicate some problem about it? Anyway I will check the accelerator pedal cable and the throttle body. Is there any specific product to use for cleaning and do I have to pay attention to something particular during disassembly-cleaning-reassembly? Could the idle stepper motor be part of this problem? They are 100k km away, and I don't think they have ever been opened or checked before !!!.I have reason to believe that sparks have never been replaced either until now.

If it’s not throwing any codes, nothing to read. There are specific sprays for the air inlet sensors, throttle-body cleaner sprays. I don’t know what you have available in your market area, do your research on the proper chemicals and usage. You Tube tutorials will help if you need a refresher course or just learning. Easy job.

Start with the basics; cleaning, tune-up, general maintenance check.

Thank you, I'll do some research on youtube to get an idea of the type of work, and online to figure out which cleaning products to buy. Could there be other things that need to be checked?

Spark plugs are a great place to start. I might look for vacuum leaks as well. For cleaning sensors and the throttle body you want throttle body cleaner. Carburetor cleaner might damage the senors on the Jeep, I don't know what it's called over there.

Check your air filter and clean the throttle body.

My 6-speed tends to do that if I don’t have the clutch completely disengaged, so try to make sure the clutch is a the way out before stomping the gas and report back with the results.

Good luck!

Hello everyone. I cleaned my throttle body with a suitable cleaner. It was very dirty on the underside, and the idle motor was very foul. I immediately noticed that now the minimum rpm of the engine are much more linear and when I go down from high rpm to the minimum, it does not make more tenetennines than I had before at idle. However, there was still lag during acceleration. Sometimes it is present, other times it is not and I cannot understand what it could be due to. Is there a sensor on the throttle body that controls the opening of the throttle valve ?. However today I will replace the engine oil and spark plugs, I found the Autolite XP985 in England, which, if I have not translated it incorrectly from the forum, should work for my 2006 4.0L engine.
PS: this morning, for the first time, after hard braking, the ABS warning light came on, I don't think it's inherent, but could it be a sign? After restarting the engine, however, everything was okay again.

Good evening guys. I have probably found the source of my problem. I replaced the spark plugs today, after which, I immediately noticed a much quicker and more progressive response from the engine. Now even resuming from low rpm does not create problems and I no longer feel uncertainty when I press the whole gas pedal. I only did 10km of testing, in the next few days I will keep everything under control as best as possible.
