What did you do to your TJ today?

Inside and outside door handle replacement…PITA, learning curve and tool fabrication and a little cursing, but new and tight now, not the over painted originals.

Bought off eBay a set

Watched quadratech you tube, marginally helpful, they skip the part that draws the cursing and tool fabrication…View attachment 310792

Heated with a torch and bent to use to install the gator clips and the cotter pin. Bent a pick to pull the cotter pin off getting the old one apart.

Reused the original clips where we could for this particular set. Also they had the retainer clips installed backwards so pay attention to how the original one goes. Remember they are oppposite for drivers vs passenger side.

Take the doors off and use a table to save yourself. We put a towel on a hammer under the paddle to keep pressure on as we reassembled the mechanism. The clips are a pain especially due to the lack of access, the “tool” helped access from above through the window, along with some careful hammer tapping when getting the gators far enough and the cotter.

Second one went much faster, good time to lube everything in the mechanisms. A good day!

Does anyone know where I can source just the retainer clips for the gator pins? Had to remove the pass side outside door latch/handle for a different issue but broke one of the clips. The door latch is in good serviceable condition, so I don't want to spend $25 for a new latch kit when I only need a clip. Thanks!

Found these two hoses leaking, fuel to and return lines, correct? Are these just pressed on? Surprised to not see a hose clamp at least.

On the Son's 01 - he got seats put back in to get it ready for inspection looks like there's some play in the rear track bar where the frame side bolt goes through. We might try tightening it up, or drilling it 1 size bigger to take up the slack.

On my 97, I've got sparrows - I pulled the front driveshaft - joints are all fine, but apparently those greasable centering balls need greased every once in awhile. I pulled everything apart so I'll rebuild it anyway. a few u joints and a centering ball - here's my problem, the dust/grease seal on the driveshaft side has some wonky edges on it - anyone have any idea what the name or part number of this is? It doesn't come with the new ball or rebuild kits.

Also, I've looked at 20 different yokes, which one fits my 97 Sport?!? HELP!!
I'm thinking this, but other sites say it doesn't fit

The one at Denny's works. I use Denny's a lot since they're in the same state I live in and UPS gets here fast from them.

Installed the front part of my BedRug kit.

This looks and fits great.

I didn't realize how ratty my OEM carpet was until I pulled it out.

Rear coming soon.

Got to put the 5.3 to good use even though my Honda Fit could have done the job. Saw this guy stranded with his truck on the side of a 55mph road to and I wanted to try and tow him to safety. Ended up going all the way to his place and it turns out were almost neighbors.

If the dude wants to sell that K-20, I'll buy it.

yeah I know what you mean I love mine....I started tidying up most of my interior as the new carpet made everything look tired lol

Same here!

Edit: Even the wife noticed.

We took the Jeep out for a drive last evening and as she's getting in she says "Is this what you installed yesterday? This looks really nice!"

Now understand, getting a compliment on a vehicle from my wife is as rare as getting a coherent sentence from Biden, so I counted it as a win 😁

Upgrading lower control arm mounts whole the axles are out.

Iron Rock mounts are a great recommendation from the forum. Didn't realize it until I test fit them that they already are cut to angle slightly into the center of the vehicle/axle, like the stock mounts. A nice little detail.

Went about an inch, then cut the other side out, then another inch, and burned the first inch on the other side. Gave time for the tube to cool to avoid warping it.

Not a messy job, nope... ;)

Ran out of time, still need to finish welding it in tomorrow.

Jeep passed its 6th monthly road and safety inspection yesterday woooohooo !!.......they pulled me up on a very minor leak from the steering box,but not enough to fail me.:) so time to pour in more 'stop leak' steering box liquid. (y)

No... every 6 months.... if you have a car built after 2000 (I think ) you only have to go every 12 months

Gotcha. We're state-to-state here in the USA. My old state, Pennsylvania, it's every 12 months for safety & emissions (newer vehicles get a longer period after initial purchase).

In my new state, it's once for safety when you first register it and every 2 years for emissions — Because keeping the planet safe is more important than the safety of the people riding/driving on the roads...

I’m so freaking grateful that I don’t have to deal with that nonsense.

Mayonnaise went home today. Spent the morning setting it up to flat tow behind an RV and tuning the new audio system. This guy has been a good friend for the last 15 years, and he talked me into selling it to him. That sparked the search for an LJ to replace it…

(My kids named the Jeeps Mustard, Ketchup and Mayo based on their colors, thought that was pretty great.)

My little day of play last year those corners had Me concerned at 70 they would blow the stitches much less the 80mph speed limit outside the city limits. A little preventive measures to see if I can get another year from this top- it was a cheap Amazon multipack so I just used them all😁 more is better right?

Kim I was thinking mesh as more of diffuser but I had not seen this. that set up is a little more weather tight- and the way this “spring “ is going down with t he rain…does it work well for you?

I like it a lot. It stops the wind from coming in from behind you. You still get plenty of wind though. I till have to wear a hat or something. I don't put my top down though. I just take all the windows out. I do open the top in the front but that's about it. If I have my uppers in (half doors) and have all the other windows out, I can still drive with no hat. Once the uppers are out, that is when I need the hat.

With the window that zips, it gives you more options. You can have a little air if you want, or unzip it and fold it down for a lot of air.

After our hugely successful fishing trip and beach cruising fun I got home and washed her, then put my new cover on her to protect her from the Arizona sun on her days off. The 2 wheelbarrows of fish are from our best day but we caught plenty on the other days too. Yellowtails average 25 lb ea, one Sea Bass at 32 lbs, 3 groupers average 30 lb ea (not in pic) and a load of rock bass 3-5 lbs each (3 in pic). My grandson went out in the kayak and caught 4 sea trout.

We were put in and pulled out every day by Arturo and his home made SBC powered deep water launch with a manual transmission, no mufflers and no brakes. Note the Micky Thompson tires! Down here you see some stuff that looks expensively out of place, but you don't ask no questions ;) (and they won't tell you no lies)
