What did you do to your TJ today?

Thanks for all the input, @glwood and @Ranger_b0b. So, just as you two had me convinced that the LD springs were going to be just fine, the plot thickened. I contacted the seller, and let him know of the error. Very pleasant fellow, so I treated him in kind. Well, he kind of chuckled, and explained that the boxes he shipped them in are not the original boxes, as I had assumed. He said that if I run the numbers that are on the factory tags on the springs, I will find that they are, indeed, the HD springs I so desire. Ummmm...oops! Man, am I glad I approached the issue with some manner of civility, because I would have looked like a real ass once he pointed out that little piece of information. Anyways, we had a good laugh over it, so it's all good. In fact, I ended up discussing the possibility of him fabricating a front bumper that resembles the Currie V-bumper for me. He looked up an image of it, and said to give him a week to look into it and crunch some numbers, and he'd give me a call back. So it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with.
So the 2932 & 2941 numbers were from the boxes, not the spring tags? Oops. Hope they work out well, and you get a bumper.

Like I said before... lf you need any bumper photos or measurements, let me know.
Thanks, @dla. The fabricator just may need that kind of info. Lets see if he comes up with a price that's even within the realm of possibility for me. I truly have no idea what to expect, other than it surely will not be cheap.

Yeah...a little embarrassing, I have to admit. I didn't have my glasses on when I was looking at the tags, but dang...those big numbers on the box were big enough to read! LOL It lead me down the wrong path, for sure. (sigh) No one to blame but myself!

Good news is you got what you paid for. Let us know if the HD rears work out ok.

Do you have a nice warm, dry place to work on it in, or do you have to wait for warmer weather?
Unfortunately, these old bones almost require some warmer weather these days. But what qualifies as "warmer weather" can vary. Some days, anything above 55 degrees is just perfect. I'm chomping at the bit to get started on this thing. Having the wife's support on this project makes it all the better!

And it also counts that we support you....we'll need to see some updated pictures soon. :)

Along with the OME springs I acquired, I received the same day a set of tailgate hinges I purchased from a local Craigslist seller. It seems he bought a pair of powder coated stainless steel hinges for his TJ, but unfortunately totaled it before ever mounting them. I looked up the brand and cost from where he purchased them: $149.99. I felt reeeally good about acquiring them for $60.00... Score! My old ones are so bad, it takes two men and a small boy to open the dang tailgate. These should do the trick, nicely.

What color powder coat?

Got the stock air cleaner system back on. Found it on eBay. Looks brand new! Now I have to clean the engine! Took off the cold air intake it came with when I bought the Jeep.

I seem to recall following all that. Lots of suggestions were flowing about what the cure might be, if I'm not mistaken. It seemed odd to me that no one else had experienced the extreme rake issue to the extent that you had (this is all running off the supposition on my part that it was actually your rig I'm thinking about...). Anyways, if I found myself having to replace the rear HD springs with LD ones to eliminate an extreme rake, then so be it. If that's the worst thing in life that's ever happened to me, then I'm doing alright, ya know? It's all just "First-World Problems", in the grand scheme of things. Takes a lot more than that to bring me down! ;)

Well it is still fresh in my mind, so if you have any questions let me know.
I am curious to see what kind of rake you get. But suffice it to say the hardest part of putting the rears in is the top shock bolts and the track bar bracket. It is only hard because it is hard to get the drill in there, also the lower you can get the axle the easier it is to get the torx on the bolt in front of the gas tank.
Once you get that all done, pulling the rear springs out is super easy.(You don't need to pull the top shock bolts after the first time.) So if you need to add a spacer or remove a spacer or change your springs is all pretty easy after the first time.

I guess why I am telling you that is, if you do have the same issue I had, it is really easy to fix, so you don't have to stress about it while you are putting it together.

Actually, I think the reason why you're telling me because you're a good guy! ;) Thanks, my friend! I might end-up dropping the gas tank all at the same time, as I need to replace the sending unit/pick-up anyways. Maybe that'll give me lots more room to deal with the stuff you mentioned. What do they always try to teach us..."Work smarter, not harder"? Maybe I'll try that approach, for a change!
