New Here

Welcome! Smart move on your part! That is because you want a TJ :). And to learn before buying is wise as well. Learning from others mistakes will help you save money. Wait, Maybe not. But time, yes, time you will save. Enjoy!!

Be sure to post some photos when you get a chance... some of that E-body too!
Here ya go! Had her since 94. In the background is the XJ I am replacing, almost 300k, she's tired and the TJ I buy is gonna replace her.

Tons of info here. Wish I had read more before buying. I just lucked out on a lot of things with my TJ.

Yeah I said the same thing when I bought my XJ. Decent vehicle overall but what an electrical nightmare! Pretty solid mechanically though, it is hard to beat the 4.0. Just a shame the 4.0 is not made any longer. Planned obsolescence if you ask me ;)

Wow!!! Very nice Challenger!!! I had a red '73 with the Rally Hood, the fender "vents" and laser stripes, and black vinyl top. It was a 318 car, 3.23 SureGrip, and a column-shift automatic!?!? Weird. Absolutely loved that car. Never should have sold it...

Tell us how you plan to use it — will it be a DD or on the other extreme will it be a trailer queen that rides it's way to Moab or King of the Hammers? It will matter what you buy and though you can get there either way if it is not set up right you will be spending money and wrenching if it is going to be a rock climber.

I hear ya there, I thought about selling it before, but I always talk myself out of it.

Fight the urge to sell, my friend. Seller's remorse is an absolute bitch! (Sorry, but there is just no other way to put it...). I bought one car back three times, and each time it got more expensive to buy it back. Guess I'm a slow learner! As for the kid who bought my '73 Challenger, I kept in touch with him for about 10 years, and he still had it. Still loved it, in fact. At that point, I quit feeling bad about selling it. It went to the right home.

Welcom to the forum. What are you looking for In a TJ and how far are you willing to travel? Most of us like shopping for cars and have no problem trying to hunt down a car for you.
I enjoy the hunt! Well, I'd like to start out with something with no rust. Surface rust on the frame not a big deal. I can fix that. Would like it to be 4.0 automatic, because the boss ( wife) can't dive manual... been down that road with a Mini Copper, was not pretty lol.

There are only a few cars I'd sell it for. Mopar 2 door post cars, Polara, Coronet Belvedere. I have a thing for Super Stock cars from the 60's.

I'd like it to be dual purpose, I want to wheel it, mud does not interest me, it would be great if there were legal places to wheel near me.
