Dana 35 bearing change

Hello All,

I will be changing wheel bearings and seals on my Dana 35 im sure I could do this with no problem but on some vids I saw when the main pin was pulled out a spacer dropped down. If this happens to me I would be lost as to where to put it back in the proper place. So before this happens I was hoping someone could advise me in this situation. Thanks all,

It's not a spacer, it's a C clip. There is a grove on the axle shaft that it fits on. When you take the cross pin out, push the axle shaft in which will expose the clip. Use a magnet or something else to pull the clip out. That will then allow you to remove the axle shaft.

No, not the C clips. When the guy pulled out the cross pin a round washer looking spacer fell down. I think this spacer had to be held in place by the cross pin and when the pin was pulled out it let the spacer fall down. I am only guessing this but want to be sure before I pull that pin out. Thanks

Those are just thrust washers for the spider gears. If they fall out, slip them back into place when you go to reinstall the pin. Not a big deal.

Just to clarify, they go between the spider gear and the carrier. May take a little wiggling to get them back into place.
