Dome light not turning on when doors are opened schematic question

Issue: I added an OEM soundbar and dome light to my 2002 which originally did not have a sound bar but the dome light doesn't come on when either door is opened.

light turns on via the multi-function switch and also turns on with the kick panel light for approx 5 - 7 seconds when the key is turned off so the bulb is good. Harness has the yellow wire from the lower kick panel to the sound bar. A harness from a 2001 (soft top only) was used to connect the sound bar to the orange kick panel plug.

Fuse #4 is tested and installed

I searched for a hidden switch and don't see any modifications.

Both doors have the switches and the switches appear to be in fine order.

According to the attached schematic (still learning to read schematics) there is a yellow wire associated with the sound bar missing from the LHD 2 speaker soft top harnesses. Is my vehicle missing a wire in the dash side harness that would connect the door switch to the dome light before the orange soundbar plug, since it wasn't there in the first place?

Any ideas on how to proceed with solving this one? Perhaps it's a blessing to not worry about not closing a door, but on the flip side, it's irking to not understand why the light doesn't work.

Do you have a 4 SPEAKER SYSTEM or a LHD 2 SPEAKER SYSTEM (Left Hand Drive 2 Speaker System)? Both are YL (Yellow). If your Jeep is a LHD 2 Speaker System, then there's nothing going to the Sound Bar Dome Lamp, but I suspect it should be there according to the schematic, but I'm learning how to read these schematics too, so there is that.

This 2002 jeep was originally a “radio delete” option one purchased by the military, but the radio harness and the two dash speakers were in there so I was able to plug and play an OEM sound bar using part of an 01 harness. So this harness I used has the pink and white wires and the yellow wires all for the light , and the light works for everything other than the door opening… one of the threads I read a while back outlined the difference and there was one note about the door not activating the dome light for certain years but can’t quite find my way back to the info.

mine was like that when I got it, found the connector on the driver door switch was unhooked. guess the PO didn't know you could pull the fuse to deactivate when the doors are off !

I was thinking along the same lines of the door switch. Those are what connects the light to ground. There would need to be a wire from the sound bar to the door switch.

The PO probably removed the connectors on BOTH pins.

Bingo. You are spot on, they are tucked up in there a bit and I didn’t try to check but sure enough , prior owner disconnected the wires. And now that the mystery is solved, I think I’ll leave it that way.

I would reattach the wiring and just remove fuse #4 if the doors are off.

Those are what connects the light to ground.

IIRC, the door switch provides a 0v (ground) signal to the cluster.
The cluster then turns the lights on, off, or dims to off.

Do your lights dim slowly after closing a door?
