Washington Washington members that live to wheel

If you’ve been to Walker you know you have to go around the gate to get in. I decided to try to drive over the rocks rather than around them. For a moment I think I had it, but I let off the momentum and got high centered. I’m sure Pete was thinking, “Geez, this is going to be a long day.” I think he got a pic. He ended up driving out the other side and winching me back.
I’ve seen a JKU on 35s try to go around that gate, it wasn’t pretty..

Taking those rocks straight on is pretty gnarly!

Not much room for a TJ between the rock and the pole, so I used reverse while hard against the pole to move my front end over. 👍🏼
I don’t think I’m reading this right.. you mean you purposefully pushed the Jeep into the pole? 😳

It’s raining at Walker. I’m guessing that’s par for the course. Met up with Pete and fell in with a JKU who was cutting a tree so we could go down to the trail. He’s there every week so he escorted us around. I think we did most of the trails except humps and bumps and the 4 x 4 test area which were closed for logging. A few good rocky sections.

How difficult were the trails in the slick? Traction an issue?

Missing the 4x4 test area is a bummer, I think it was my favorite spot last time I went.

Once he pulled me off the rock I had 1 foot before hitting the pole. So I just backed up so my bumper was against the pole, turned passenger, and put it in R and walked over.

I wanted to clear that rock pile, but the front diff was wedged in front and behind. If someone was spotting me it would likely have been no issue.

Yeah, slick. The biggest rock section we did was somewhere off the main entry road after the gated entrance. We were trying to get to the top. It’s about 30 yards long. It wants to throw you into the bank on the left, and Pete went right into it. I thought he broke his hardtop, but he was good. It was nice though, and I crawled up. I think he got a pic of that too at the end.

Yeah, I really wanted to go to the skillz (🤣) area. Sucks. I’ll come back for that.

How was your day? I’ll probably post this and see everything you’ve uploaded. Reiter had more, but it’s the same kind of stuff IMO.

JMT and me had some fun! He started off getting first on the winch list, but I evened the score later. Good times, if a bit moist! We met another Pete in a JKU cutting trees out of a trail and gave assistance. He ended up giving us a little tour!

Thanks
You should fill out your "about" section or provide more information in your post so people know what you have. There are 2 different windshield frames out there, 97 to 02 and 03 to 06. Judging by your mirrors I'm going to guess you fall into the 97 to 03 year range.

97 to 02 came bare on the inside, 03 to 06 has a plastic surround is held on by clips that go into hols in the windshield frame.

In the aftermarket you can pick up the frame for the 03 to 06 for a pretty good price, but for some reason I can't find the 97 to 02 at as good of a pricing. Used frames are going to be all over the map when it comes to price. Check Ebay and you can find quite a few complete with good glass for about what you would pay for the new 97-02 frame and glass (then you wouldn't have to install the glass or have it done $$??). Some places have free shiping which would make a HUGE difference in cost so make sure you pay close attention to that when you look at prices. We also have a "Parts for Sale" section in the forum. you might be able to find something there?

This is a picture of the back of the 03 to 06 (first link below) the red arrows show some of the holes I am talking about where the plasticsurround clips on. the earlier models (second link) don't have those holes

Thanks

There was someone on Marketplace recently that had TJ parts & he's in Yakima.

@TJ Guru @Wildman @Keister Bunny
Appriciate all the info.
I have gotten parts from Misael this past summer. Very good guy would recommend. He does not have a windo frame though.
I am thinking that I may just have to order one!
