Not sure about where you all live, but around me, at Walmart you have a better chance of seeing someone passed out on the sidewalk or stealing than finding someone at the sporting goods counter. Just listen to the local scanner and you will hear shoplifting calls at Walmart multiple times per day.
Plus, it doesn't really matter which of the multi-billion dollar corporations you are giving your money to. The only views they have are making money and they will cater to whichever group can bring them the most of it. I understand supporting businesses that align with your views, but you're going to have to look much smaller. Which means no shopping at the big stores, no Amazon, none of them. They're all just in the business of making money. But by all means, everyone gets to decide where to spend their dollar.
As for the ducks, I'll echo the "not my thing, but you do you and be happy" sentiment!
