Topless Security

The firearm idea is good but it comes with other problems, like what do you do with it when you are parked, how can you get to it fast enough etc. You almost need to carry concealed all the time and that's not for everyone.

I carry concealed everyday, everywhere, every time I set foot outside my house.

I have a hidden momentary switch that needs to be held down to start, an alarm and a steering wheel club. I also try to be careful where I park, and whenever possible like at a restaurant I get seated where I can see whatever I am driving thru the window. At night it's locked in my yard behind steel gates.

Haven't thought too much about carjacking but let's say I am carjacked after I've started the engine, I could shut it off and jump out, the carjacker would be stopped/delayed by the hidden switch, and mine is hidden pretty good, and awkward to reach. Another way to avoid a carjacking, the kind where they hold you up for your keys, is to keep the steering wheel club key on your second keychain, then hand over the keys and boogie. By the time they realize the club key is not there you'll be gone.

I had an electric fuel pump toggle switch in the covered ash tray in my Mustang years ago. If the hidden switch was off, no gas would go to the vehicle and it wouldn't start. Only problem was that I didn't turn it off one day when I went to my old high school to play, and my Mustang was stolen when thieves picked up my keys that I had laid down. Luckily, I had a temperamental automatic transmission that would cause the main line to pop off and immediately drain the fluid if it was raced too hard. The thieves who stole it and went racing it and joyriding, popped it off and the Mustang stopped with no gear power. I got it back undamaged as the thieves got scared and ran away. The neighbors in the valley called the police and my Mustang was returned to me undamaged.

Do like the cartels. Wrap everything in plastic and stash it in the gas tank.

Also, swap to a column shifter. Boomers, GenXers, and millennials alike will be so offended about your "five on a tree" that they will just move on

Not me. I'm too crazy to do that! I'd be jumping out of my Jeep and pointing it at nearly every stop. "You want tailgate me and stop right on my bumper. Say hello to my little friend.!!". So, I couldn't carry a gun. I'm like a gun myself, ready to go off at any second if someone messes with me. With a firearm, I couldn't risk it. All I do now is wave the idiots on the streets around me. I'm constantly waving these tailgaters around me. If they can't drive safely, I just don't want them behind me like that. I just coast without brake checking, wave them around, and most of the time they thank me for letting them go ahead. I've seen too many rear end collisions from reckless drivers in a hurry, and I don't want my Jeep damaged by them. I had one guy just yesterday tailgating me on the freeway while talking on his cell phone. I slowed and waved him around me. Eventually, he furiously went around me, just to tailgate the vehicle in the next lane while talking with one hand on his cell phone to his ear in heavy traffic. I didn't want him behind me, driving like that.

I do too but that's not going to stop anyone from stealing stuff out of our Jeeps when we're not near or in them.

Yeah, a lot of the time, this is how criminals get guns, when people leave them in their vehicles. There was a time when people drove with loaded gun racks, but not anymore, because a felon would break in and empty it in a second.

That's why I carry concealed. I don't go in any business that doesn't allow handguns.

I don't own a firearm of any kind and only shot a pistol once at a range last year. I am the type to shoot first w/o asking questions....not a good mindset here in NY.

A gun (of any kind) is a responsibility!

I have had all kinds of training, combat as well as self defense.

Never and I mean never take owning a firearm lightly.

The problem with that is that very few people are willing to shoot or kill someone, no matter the circumstances. I'm the exact opposite and have paid the price for it. Seeing what a shit show this country has turned into, I see bad stuff happening. I had to sell my "legal" firearms a long time ago.

Yeah, I really can't get into talks about guns myself. I actually became a licensed security guard when I was unemployed a while ago, and I passed the background and range qualification, but I couldn't complete the rest of it. The thought of having to possibly take a life like that is just too much for me. When I was younger, I probably would have completed it. Luckily, I got a good job in my profession so it isn't really too much of a worry right now. I keep the license updated though, just in case, so maybe someday I'll complete the armed portion, but I doubt it.

But he was justified in talking on his cell phone - he was the exception to the safety rules that only apply to everyone else!

^^ this…and not to derail the thread, my dad got his CCW in IL which is not easy , but it forced him to get basic firearms training (he’s now probably up to 100+hrs of class and live fire) VS GA which is constitutional carry and any idiot can walk out the store with a firearm.

Being a douchbag is not punishable by death, if it were, we would be dangerously close to extinguishing the human race.

Absolutely the last thing that I ever want to do is to take another life.

If the choice is them or me, they are going to die.

I avoid locations and situations where the use of force may be required. I also don't necessarily agree with the stand your ground concept. If I can defuse a situation by retreating, that is what I will do. That said, don't break into my house or threaten my family.

If Alexia can detect the sound of breaking glass, I imagine Alexia can also detect a pissed off guy shouting "You picked the wrong house to break into MF'er blam-blam-blam".

Except that when he hits someone with his car while distracted on his cell phone you know that he will hide it and swear that he wasn't on it.

Glad I don't have Alexa or anything like it.
