What did you do to your TJ today?

What happens the morning after hot mexican food.
My breakfast of champions causes it too. 🤫

Check my wheel color thread.

That's way too much work. For anyone interested. :geek:

"I bought a set of Ravins that I repainted. The repaint did not go well. I do not want to put any more time in them.
Today, I went on Amazon and bought a set of Canyon repops. That should be here Fri or Sat."

Tried to replace the steering box & PS hoses on daughter's 97. Got all ready to put the new box in but needed to turn the steering wheel to align the collar on the input shaft. Unfortunately the steering wheel was locked. It was at this point that I discovered that my amazing daughter took her car keys out of town with her. You know, the keys to the car that has the transmission in pieces on the workbench. Like, what did you think you were going to do with those keys while you were 300 miles from your non-running jeep?

I did get the transmission put back together, new seals & frictions....but I can't get the torque converter all the way in to save my life. I've never had this much trouble with one before. It's a new-to-me pump, so now I'm paranoid that it's the wrong version or something.

I also started practicing flaring brake lines. It only took me 2 attempts to determine that the tool I borrowed from Autozone was awful, so I bought a $40 one that somebody here recommended. In an hour or two we'll find out if it was a person, process, or tool issue.

Swapped the junk cube lights that came in my bumper with some Rough Country flood lights. These are much better.

Installed the LED under hood light fixture to replace my OEM one that didn't work.

Swapped steering wheels with a remanufactured leather wrapped one. The leather is very nice. I swapped my cruise buttons to the new wheel since the text on them were a lot nicer.

This was after like 5 attempts with the Autozone tools. Their cutter did a lousy job, and it was very hard to get the “stick out“ correct, and then the tool didn’t want to stay square on the tube.

Result was a lopsided flare every time.

This was my first attempt with the Titan flare tool & some $15 cutter that did a way better job making a clean cut. The Titan also has a very easy method for getting the depth right, and it’s also easy to determine when you’ve tightened the die down enough.

I have yet to regret spending the money on the eastwood brake flaring tool, easily one of my favorites when I need it

Today I put together all of the control arms from my Savvy lift in preparation for this weekend. SSSYE going in, lift, shocks, both trackbars, etc etc. I have a brand new (<200 miles) set of wheels off a Mojave Gladiator, 17s with 33s on them. Not what I want but I challenge you to argue with free wheels and tires. Doing JKS discos for the front swaybar for the time being. Now that I think about it I wonder if I need a longer TC shift cable..... search function here I come
