Where to get a differential rebuild?

Hello everyone, I'm from Yakima wa. and trying to find someone in eastern washington who knows how to rebuild diffs. I'd love to learn myself but I dont have the confidence to do it after reading some horror stories. I just need a rebuild, bearings are groaning but gears are in good shape. If im happy with the price and work I have another tj i would love to get regeared. Thanks in advanced.

if you just need to replace the bearings, you very likely don't need the entire gear job. I just did this on my Dana35 no problem. You still need a press and a bearing puller (or a well-guided dremel), so that may be a non-starter for you anyway. And I guess you need the special torque wrench to test the preload.... It's not a super hard job but it does require some special tools so it may not be for everyone.

But if you ask the shop for a full rebuild you're going to spend some money. If you only need to replace the bearings I would expect it to be considerably cheaper. On the other hand.....what transmission, what gear ratio, and what tire size are you on today? Might be a good time to re-gear anyway.

I’d like to keep this jeep stock I have another one that is for building. I’m on 30” tires, 3.07 gears with a 3 speed automatic and 4.0

I would leave the 3.07s for cruising down the highway with that auto and small tires.

That was the plan. My problem is my rear end howls. Ive opened it up gears are in good shape. I have another jeep I plan on putting 4.88s in
