Why? For what terrain and where? Texas isn't anything like Johnson Valley, dripping wet and steep coastal British Columbia, or the high Cascades in the dead of winter.
Yes, completely different landscape but the only thing missing in Texas is anything resembling a mountain. A caveat I should have mentioned: It could be considered a daily on-road driver since I don't drive much, working from home and living in a small country town. I have another vehicle but as you guys know, any excuse to drive the TJ is a good enough excuse!
As far as the tires, these are the features I like.
- 3/4" tread depth and thick sidewalls.
- They are quiet on pavement. No irritating buzzzzzzzz. Some people say they eventually develop it, I'll wait and see.
- We have mud in Texas. Lots of it. These things do a great job at eating mud and flinging it out. I wouldn't trust them in a bog, which might be sort of like Johnson Valley?
- All weather, including stud holes
- Rock climbing (w/ lockers)
- PRICE

- They are decently suited to any terrain I may want to play in. Not a masterclass, but for someone who is about 20/80 split of off-road and on-road across the wide array of Texas landscape, they are perfect.
