i don't know if the spare i have on now is the stock size or not- it's probably not honestly. i think im gonna look at replacing it with a morryde kit

i dont know what the stock tire is, but the spare is a michelin latitude tour P265/70 R16

The MorRyde is the right call. I’m still on stock Rubi tires (which are 245/75 R16 by the way). My stops were fine, but the upper OE hinge was sagging to the point that it was contacting the top of the taillight and gouging it up.
I plan to go to 33s, so rather than getting another OE hinge I went with MorRyde. It goes on easy and it’s really stout.

as long as i would be able to install it by myself, and without needing to drill holes in the frame or whatever, that's what i'll plan on lol. ill try tying a knot in the cable for now and when i get paid again i'll look at the tailgate reinforcement kit (its $480 eep!)
I found someone on FB that had just switched to a drop-down tailgate. They shipped me the whole kit for <$250 with all the hardware neatly packaged. I got the instructions online, but I could have done without them.
A heat gun on the hinge bolts was the difference between an easy install and what would probably have been an afternoon of swearing and breaking stuff.

fortunately i bought a heat gun with a shrink tube kit last year that i still haven't used yet. i need to break it out to get that damn accord badge off lol.

The hardest part of the install is removing your existing hinges. Either heat suggested earlier or you can drill the head off each bolt as long as they are the OEM hex bolts. I don't remember the size drill bit but the head will pop off and then you can easily remove the leftover piece with some pliers.
My last name is Rose, destined to be a tattooer. Got a few bottles of ink under my skin so InkedRose… but when I capitalize it now people will think it’s an L haha
