Yikes on that one spot. Crazy how good the other pics look and that one looks really bad.
Once the rusting process starts in Pa it will continue in Fl albeit slower. It’s easier for the salt to get in the cracks than to wash it out properly. The extra interior space of a LJ makes the extra cost worth it. The LJ has 3’ more turning radius. I’ve yet to find this an issue on the trail.

Curious, have you ever had an LJ?
I bought one and only kept it for a couple of weeks before selling it. I thought the ride was exactly the same as a TJ. I like the look of them lifted with 35s.

OK these are pics of the original white TJ with half doors - I will show you these and then we can talk about a few issues - including the AC not working and the seat belt light on when two passengers are in the car with belts on. Here are the pictures - just trying to determine it if it worth the $8000 or so the guy wants for it. Only one pic of the floor plan and it is solid all the way through.
So just looking for an opinion on that white jeep and if anyone sees issues with the rust. 116,000 miles and about $8000
Something is not adding up here. If I had not seen the pic of the rust hole by the body mount, I'd say the LJ looks to be in very good shape.
Looking closer at the offending pic, it looks more like some kind of damage to me - almost like someone blasted though it with a welder doing something and then never fixed it. Something is strange about the spot - especially how good the rest of the rig looks to me.
You and I are thinking the exact same thing. It almost looks like a torch cut. Maybe that crossmember nutsert started spinning and someone started torching out a hole in the frame to get a hold of it. I don't get it, frames don't rust like that. The rest of it looks way too clean for that to be a rust hole. There's something else that happened there.
Did not see that one. Funny how the rest of the pictures don’t look that bad. Definitely not surface rust.
those pictures aren't helpful at all with respect to the frame.

that will work just fine to get further into the frame than the length of your longest finger, sometimes the finger test is all you need however, I have examined hundreds of TJ frames at this point (for fun, it's an odd obsession, I'll crawl half under them in the supermarket parking lot), often a simple visual inspection of the frame openings will reveal a pile of rust flakes that reaches above the entry point which makes it nearly an inch deep; with those it takes slightly bending over and looking for 5 seconds to rule that jeep out. What's scary is often times those frames appear 'good', no visible signs of rust on the exterior of the rails, so for those that don't know what they're looking for they believe they bought a good jeep. If you can't see the flakes then you move to step two which is to feel inside. If you don't feel any flakes after examining all openings, the endoscope is the final arbiter when you're ready to lay down the money, as a savvy seller may clean out the flakes, but the camera won't lie.
LJ usually at least 5K+ more than a similar TJ. Be real careful in FL, salt air/water is a killer as well as road salt.
Not sure where you are in FL but worthwhile to look a little further north in GA and AL. Hardtop is nice even in FL and even if you take off in the summer. They are 1000 to 1500 for TJ, more for an LJ.

A usb endoscope is 15 buck on Amazon. Buy one. They come in differen lengths.
Also read up on where to drill frame drsin holes. This is where to rust begins most frequently and the spots are easy to reach with an endoscope, impossible without.
So I scoped the Frame today and it does have some rust. My assumption is that you all will recommend me to pass on this one. I mean if the price was lower than the $8900 guy wants. Here are the pics
