Transfer case and adapter help

So I’m about to do an LS swap in my TJ. I already have the 5.3 and 4l60e. I have a 2004 Rubicon, does it have the 241 or 231 transfer case? I’ve read conflicting information on which one it is. Also need the adapter for it. Thanks in advance for any help.

The Rubicon has the NP241J from the fractory.

If you're doing an engine swap, you should really crawl under your Jeep and take a look at the tag on the case to be sure...

Tag is missing that’s why I was asking. Is there another way to if it?

The shift arm, that the shift linkage attaches to on the transfer case, on the 231 points down and the one on the 241 points up. If you know anyone else with a TJ, you can compare. Yours should be the opposite of a non-Rubi TC shift arm.

So I found the tag.... I didn't look on the back of the case.... duh, sorry guys and thanks. As far as adapters go, with kids graduating high school and a kid in college. whats the best bang without killing my bank account?

I don't think you have much of a choice as far as adapters go. To my knowledge, Novak is the only one who makes an adapter. Although Advance Adapters may as well.

But there aren't enough of them out there to really shop around and save money.
