I added a flattie to the fleet

That's a very odd pattern for panel rust. Was/is there a cross member in contact with that location?

Yep, there are hat channels that run across the floor and originally they were filled with wood slats. I replaced the rotten sections with heavier gauge metal and no wood.

Hopefully you don't end up missing the structural strength of wood in your jeep frame.

You should try it. Just a simple pull rope around the crank pulley. Also, record that. :sneaky:

Some times you just gotta try stuff and see what happens. The crank pulley has only a small exposed flat to work with. I found an old flat belt and cut it to wrap around the pulley. It wasn't long enough so I added a rope extension.

I wrapped it around the pulley, cycled the key 4 times to prime fuel pressure (slow leak), tied on a screwdriver so I'd have a handle to grab, and gave it a rip. Enjoy.

OK, so that was entirely predictable! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I did rotate the motor, just stalled out on compression.

I'm impressed you tried it. I've seen it done on some old Farmall tractors (small engines, low compression). Theoretically I'd guess it is possible, at least with a manual trans Jeep.

Yeah the 4.0 has a fair bit of resistance to turning. Even on an engine stand with a bar they turn hard. I gasped a bit when you went flying back. My old ass would have broken something.

I knew, pulling that hard, to be ready when the pull released, but I still went flying! I laugh each time I see the video :ROFLMAO:

I'd need a larger pulley for better leverage, or 2-3 people pulling together to make it work. Think I'll stick with the jump box for now.
