I'd wager we got about 8 inches of powder topped by an inch plus of ice on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. I hit the powder with a grain shovel for the four units in my building and our parking spots just as it changed over to ice yesterday afternoon, wasn't too bad to move at the time. Just watched my neighbor attempt to take his trash out, not sure he made that journey without a fall. I suspect the ice is going to put up a fight.
I was right.

Actually, what saved the day was my military E-tool. It made fairly short work of the ~1.5" layer of ice covering the common deck and stone walkway for my building. Configured as an adz/pick and used from the side with a gravity-powered chopping motion, I was able to clear 3'x3' squares pretty quickly. Serrated edge did the best at fracturing. Good workout and now everyone in the building can safely get from front door to vehicle without breaking their asses.
The HOA is supposed to clear everything, but I've been here for 7 years and, aside from plowing the driveways between buildings, I think they've done the job once...2 days later after mostly cleared by residents.

Fortunately, they aren't that competent. Besides, I suspect the threat of a potential lawsuit from my 89 year old neighbor for falling injuries due to uncleared walkways might shut them up quickly, if they were feeling that froggy (and foolish).

Sounds like she got a permit but not all the permissions needed. She'll make out like a bandit either way.

No, no I'm not. Personally, I don't find her that attractive physically and have a funny feeling she might be less so intellectually/mentally, though I'm always good with females who appreciate firearms, even better if they know how to handle them properly.

I've got one of these ice chipper / lawn edgers. Isn't fast but works.
I keep plenty of ice melt around, too. But not really on purpose. Wife didn't understand they come in different sized bags and bought us a 10-year supply
