Bringing this back from the depths.

Does anyone know how the crawltek highlines work with the varozza carbon fiber high line hood? The varozza hood does not line up cleanly with my poison spyder high lines and has about a 1 inch gap at the front by the headlight.

Anything will line up better than the built out of square Poison Spyder crap.

They can be fixed, I don't know that most will figure it out though.

I think I got it. You cut the gusset leg at top and bottom and moved the gusset leg toward the firewall and I’m guessing you will rivet it back together square?

You are probably the one of a few people in existence who would go through that level effort to fix that. You can’t even tell it was fixed.

See I would’ve just cut the hood slope to match the out of square fender.

Maybe, but the front is the problem, you can't cut the hood to add material to close up the big gap. All you can do by cutting is make the 1" gap the same from the front to the back.

If anyone thinks this is an aberration, it isn't. I used to have a buddy who did the marketing for RE, Dynatrac, et al. When PS was in CO and owned by Clifton, they built their first sets of steel fenders. They asked my buddy for some testers to see how they fit and provide feedback for a discount. I was one of them. I reported back that they were made out of square and looked like they had been made for a rig that stuffed the front and bent the frame up about an inch.

The ill design stayed the same even when the company was sold and moved to SoCal.

Yes and no. The owner really wanted the PS fenders. I explained the problem long before I installed them. I test fit and showed them that they were low in the front due to being out of square as I knew they would be. Then I showed him that the backside of the tire rubbed hard on the inner fender forward face. Our solution fixed the out of square problem and moved the wall back for more tire room.

Axle pushed forward and with the mods we made, just enough room for a 37.

I noted your solution included giving more room back. Nice. Were those PS fenders steel? So you welded those two cuts closed and cleaned it up perfect?

Oh wow they must have less room back there than the gen rights? Thats how they should’ve been designed, at least to clear 37s.

If they weren’t square to begin with, using the term “design” with respect to them might be generous.

No idea, never spent that much time trying to figure it out when I know that some TJ's rub 35's hard in the same spot and others have a ton of room. This one needed help and since I was already helping them fit, made sense to fix the other problem as well.

If that is all the better that hood fits, send it back. The fit over the top of the grill is crap. The curvature where it meets the cowl isn't any better. That is unless you just tossed it on there and got disgusted and quit before adjusting it.

I purchased it off someone on marketplace. But it was still brand new in the box never opened. I did throw it on quick and zap the hinge screws in without adjusting it though. Once I saw the fender gaps I basically quit and started shopping for new fenders that dont angle down at the grill.
