What did you do to your TJ today?

I know some people struggle but for me it wasn't. Another side affect of my adhd, never have felt addicted to any drug or alcohol. Never felt like I needed or couldn't wait for another whatever.

I'm 2-1/2 years without a drink now.
Like you, I didn't have any struggle putting it down, my health was too important to even consider another.

Friends ask if I notice a difference now that I'm not drinking.
I usually tell them that I'm not a drunk asshole anymore, now I'm just an asshole.

Looks like some water got in there. Better check the rest of the fluids for intrusion as well.

Planning on doing my front diff, trans, transfer case this evening / weekend!

Had nice weather last night so I decided to fix my leaking shaft seal on my Dana 35. Most of the repair time was spent finding a 1/4” 12 point socket. Knowing what I know now I will absolutely be changing diff fluids as soon as I buy another TJ… it was disgusting!!

Did you inspect the axle surface and roller bearings for abnormal wear ?
Your rear bump stop also appears to have rotted away.

I did. The shaft didn’t have any change in diameter / edges. Bearing inside looked good too, surprisingly for how bad the oil looked. I plan on doing the next diff oil change at an earlier interval.

I was waiting for someone to notice that. That rear bump stop got obliterated when my suspension bottomed out at silver lake sand dunes in Michigan when I was coming down the back side of “test hill” . PO put in a rough country lift, way too squishy and they didn’t set the bump stop height right. Hence the reason the track bar relocation mount put a nice dent in my floor.

I'm going to check everything out today after work. I had a parasitic draw a couple of years ago, then noticed my driving lights came on randomly when the Jeep was parked. I replaced the multifunction switch, but it can't hurt to check the connector too. I have a spare MFS if I need it.

UPDATE;
I bought a headlight wiring harness ( K-Suspension) and did a test fit in 5 minutes. Headlight works now. I will install it properly when I have 20 minutes to spare. Hopefully it will keep the headlight working for good. I'm still skeptical.

Super cheap in today's TJ market is like an even trade for a YUGO. If it has good paint and racing stripes, I'm in.

I bought a headlight wiring harness ( K-Suspension) and did a test fit in 5 minutes. Headlight works now. I will install it properly when I have 20 minutes to spare. Hopefully it will keep the headlight working for good. I'm still skeptical.

You will find (if they haven't redesigned the harness) that the relays and wiring are counter intuitive to the way the harness should be designed.
IF the relays go bad; good luck locating replacement relays.
The better option would have been to use the harness included with the Toyota H4 headlight package.

If it works for a year, I'm good. It was really cheap (like me) on eBay. Not a fan of the Toyota lights themselves.

I have put this on two of mine. Such a good upgrade for brighter bulbs while keeping them halogen and a stock look. Really hard to beat when you can get the kits for $20 or less from the dealer

Halogen and bright should never be used in the same sentence IMO. Probably why NO new vehicles have them.
p.s. That's like saying, "I have a new TJ."

I like how my new glass headlights don't have that clear crystal cheap look that many of them have.

I thought the same with the stock bulbs, I believe I run 80/100’s now. Maybe I have a little bias with all the extra fog/flood lights I added haha

This is my cheap Chinese driving lights with my headlights off. I drove 3 miles the other morning and didn't realize I had my headlights were off until I got to my destination.

I can remember when Halogens first came out - DAMN they were BRIGHT compared to the standard incandescent headlites that preceded them.

Listen to Brian Lohnes' podcast Dork o Motive where he talks about the brief history of acetylene headlights on cars...they kept blowing up neighborhoods manufacturing and bottling this stuff.
